With day 52, we are now getting close to Christmas and for the latest film, we are checking out “Cloudy with a Chance of Christmas” written and directed holiday and horror filmmaker Jake Helgren.
The film stars Valery M. Ortiz (“Hit the Floor”, “Switched at Birth”, “Gabby Duran & The Unsittables”), Brandon Quinn (“Sweet Magnolias”, “The Fosters”, “Big Wolf on Campus”), Sarah Jane Morris (“Brothers & Sisters”, “Seven Pounds”), Nicole Bilderback (“Cruel Summer”), Audrey Landers (“Dallas”) and more.
The holiday telefilm revolves around Bridget Torres (portrayed by Valery M. Ortiz), the weather forecaster of a national news network, who someday wishes she can get her own show like Drake Kincaid (portrayed by Brandon Quinn) and Tatum Tilson (portrayed by Sarah Jane Morris).
Her producer Lisa Liu Lawson (portrayed by Nicole Bildberback) gives Valery good news that she will have a special program at the Christmas town of Leavenworth, Washington. What she doesn’t know until late, that she will be joined by Drake and Tatum to host the special holiday features.
For Drake, he has always been in love with Bridget, but when he got the show, instead of choosing Bridget as his co-host, he didn’t want to be in a position to have his feelings towards Bridget displayed on television and agreed with the network to hire Tatum (who happens to like her co-host, Drake).
As the three start recording in Leavenworth, the moments between Bridget and Drake are magical and both have wonderful chemistry which the viewers are starting to take notice, but as everyone else in crew is starting to love the chemistry, Tatum doesn’t. And doesn’t like seeing Drake spending so much time with Bridget.
How will these three television personalities do with so many viewers watching them and will it be the Christmas that these three are hoping?
For the most part, I enjoyed “Cloudy with a Chance of Christmas”. It’s a holiday story that captures the holiday spirit (and once again, I love holiday telefilms when they are shot in the winter. You can see the cold air coming out of their breath and it fits the season, unlike other holiday telefilms that are shot in the late summer and everyone looks like they are about to sweat while wearing winter clothing).
I’m not too familiar with Valery M. Ortiz’ work, so this is the first time I’ve watched her. Brandon Quinn has been on numerous holiday telefilms and so it’s good to see these two together and everything comes out naturally.
I also like seeing another ’80s star show up on these holiday telefilms and in this case, we have “Dallas” beauty, Audrey Landers, still looking as beautiful now as she did back then.
For the most part, I love these more mature, not as corny type of holiday romantic dramas. I love seeing a positive Hispanic woman striving to become the best she can be on television and for anyone wanting to watch one of the better 2022 holiday telefilms, definitely give “Cloudy with a Chance of Christmas” a try!
