2019 is the 80th anniversary of Batman and LEGO is paying their respect to the caped crusader with several LEGO sets which include the Batmobile, the Batwing, the Batcave, the Batcycle and more.
And the Batcave has always been one of the coolest, yet priciest Batman sets to own.
So, for today, let’s take a look at the LEGO DC Batman Batcave – Clayface Invasion (76122).
The 2006 release was fascinating for its gothic look but featured Batman, Robin, The Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Alfred, Bruce Wayne and one Mr. Freeze Henchman and three Penguin minions and was an impressive set.
Six years later, in 2012, the set futured Batman (in blue and grey) Robin, Bruce Wayne, Bayne and Poison Ivy and in 2016, we saw the classic TV series Batcave and that same year, the LEGO “The Batman Movie” Batcave Break-In.
And in 2019, we have the Batcave Clayface Invasion (for 8+ and is 1,037 pieces). While Batman, Robin, Bruce Wayne have remained consistent in character appearances, instead of Alfred, this time we get Batwoman. And for villains, this time around we have Two-Face and Catwoman (not sure If we can count her as a villain as she and Batman are always close!). And a very large Clayface (that can grasp onto things).
It’s important to note that the Batman, Bruce Wayne, Robin, Catwoman and Two-Face minifigures are new minifigures!
While the 2006, Batcave will remain close to my heart as an AFOL, I have to say that I really like the “Batcave Clayface Invasion”, for its many pieces but it has the Batcomputers which I like how they are setup, you have the cool transformation tower, weapons room, trophy room, jail with a roof top for the Batman Batwing to be parked (the Batwing is sold separately in the 76120 set).
Probably the most unexpected is the addition of the Bat-Tank which comes with 4 flick missiles, detachable stud shooter and hook shooter and also the inclusion of a jetpack for Batman.
This is the best Batcave made by LEGO by far! Highly recommended for LEGO Batman fans!!!
