I have been using the AKvto 40.7 lb Monofilament Fluorescent Green Fishing Line as my emergency leader line.
For those not familiar with AKvto, this is a fishing brand known for their fishing lines (mono, fluoro, braided) and also have fishing lures and accessories. The brand is owned by manufacturing company DYLS in China. The Alien Nylon line is known for its exceptional strength per unit diameter and are produced in smaller diameters, resulting in a superior lure action and casting performance. It also offers a lower stretch and maintains better strength in wet conditions, enhancing sensitivity and control.
And I have had to use this several times already. I’m usually not a mono fishing line guy, but I do use it for backing on my baitcasting reels. But because this is a 40.7 lb (0.52mm) line, this is a high abrasion line and are very easy to create knots.
It’s about 109 yards spooled but from my experience, it has been put to great use as my emergency leader line replacement and I like the fact that its inexpensive at under $10. Sure, it’s a bit pricey for a mono line when compared to others that offer a lot more lineage but this is a company that prides itself of making products that are exceptional in strength and stand behind it.
