Enoden 700 Series

The Enoshima Electric Railway, which connects Fujisawa City and Kamakura City in Kanagawa Prefecture, has introduced new train cars for the first time in 20 years and held a departure ceremony. The newly introduced train cars, called the “700 series,” retain the traditional design of the Enoden while featuring a sharp, forward-looking design.

The seats inside the train are arranged so that passengers’ gaze is directed towards the sea, allowing them to enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery not only for sightseeing but also for everyday commutes to work or school.

A long line had formed on the platform of Kamakura Station since early morning, with people holding cameras to catch a glimpse of the new train cars and people waiting to board the first train. The “700 series” departed at the signal of the station master, carrying many people on a clear day with Mount Fuji clearly visible, and began running as the new face of the Enoden. [TV Asahi NEWS]
