On the afternoon of April 13th, a man was struck and killed by a Rapid Airport train at JR Naebo Station in Sapporo.

As a result, 98 trains, including Rapid Airport trains, were canceled, affecting more than 30,000 people. At around 12:30 p.m., JR staff reported to the fire department that “a person has been struck by a train bound for Chitose” from the platform of JR Naebo Station in Kita 3-jo Higashi 11-chome, Chuo-ku, Sapporo.

A person was struck by the Special Rapid Airport No. 82 train bound for New Chitose Airport from Otaru, and according to the police, a man of unknown age died. No passengers or crew members were injured.

Train service was temporarily suspended on both the up and down lines between Sapporo and Chitose on the Chitose Line, and on both the up and down lines between Sapporo and Iwamizawa on the Hakodate Line, resulting in the cancellation of 98 trains, including 45 Rapid Airport trains. As a result of this accident, at the bus stop for buses heading to the airport—
