The One about the Orient Bambino Small Seconds Watch

The Orient Contemporary line features many elegant watches at an affordable price.

And when it comes to the contemporary line, one of the most popular is Orient’s Bambino watches.

But a watch that has caught attention when it was released is the Orient Bambino Small Seconds watch.

For those not familiar with Orient, Orient is a Japanese watch company that is part of the Seiko Epson group, which is under the Seiko Group umbrella.

While under Seiko Group, Seiko watches are under Seiko Holdings, Orient watches are under Seiko Epson. Both work independently from each other, so you can think of Seiko as big brother and Orient as little brother. Similar to how there is Rolex and its little brother Tudor.

You can read more about my explanation of Orient’s history here.

If you have read my other Orient Bambino watch reviews, there are five versions of the Orient Bambino, but there are also other special Bambino watches such as the Bambino Open Heart and the one, I am going to review, the Bambino Small Seconds watch.

So, this watch is cool because instead of the seconds hand, you get a dial in the six o’clock position featuring a small seconds subdial that spins around.

The watch utilizes the hour marks of the Orient Bambino Version 4, but to add something special, they utilize Roman numerals in the 12, 3, 6 and 9 positions.  But unlike the bigger version 4, it stays with the 40.5mm size of versions 1-3 and 5.

The watch does feature 30m and has a push/pull crown, domed mineral crystal and uses a Caliber F6222.

This Japanese movement is self-winding with 24 jewels and is a specialized movement for small seconds subdials.  It also has a power reserve of 40 or more hours.  Winding the crown 30 times will wind the spring fully and achieve full power reserve. It is also hand windable and hacking.

It is also water resistant up to 30 meters (98 feet).

And this watch also features a caseback.

There are four versions, the one I chose is the RA-AP0003S10A which has a champagne dial and silver case with brown leather band with a buckle clasp.  But you can get a white dial version with gold, silver or rose gold case and a black dial version.

For me, I chose champagne as it looks more elegant and I own too many watches with a white and black dial.

Overall, as an Orient Bambino watch wearer, collector, etc. The Orient Bambino Small Seconds watch is no doubt one of the most beautiful Orient watches in my collection and absolutely love it!
