If there is one thing that I wanted since I was young and in college, that I said I would do once I graduated and got a good paying job and that was to invest in a better OBD2 reader that did much more than the usual OBD trouble codes but really checks one’s system and works on a hybrid vehicle.
The INNOVA CarScan Pro 5610 Code Scanner – Professional OBD2 Code Reader does just that. It not only reads (and resets) check engine lights but it also does ABS (brake), SRS (Airbag and seatbelts) codes and more.
It also will work on foreign or domestic cars that are 1996 and newer but most important for me, that it works on a hybrid vehicle.
The device also comes with the RepairSolutions2 App, so you get the info. that you need that helps in finding and purchasing the exact part that you need, schedule maintenance, receive technical bulletins and more.
But this device also allows one to send a command to your vehicle and it can test the actuators and things like your fuel pump, injectors, electronic parking brakes and you can see the live stream data for the ABS, SRS, transmission and engine.
It does so much more and last, it also checks on your emission status and if you’ll pass the smog test!
How cool is that?
Technology has changed a lot but it has been my goal to get one of these more pricier code scanner readers and while it’s over $325, you are paying for a solid device. It detects your vehicle immediately and you get codes very quickly!
Now, there is another review that said it’s not sturdy and it would be destroyed in his toolbox. But for this, I bought a special case anti-shock case for it. I figured if It’s this expensive, it’s not one of those things you throw around in a tool box.
But no doubt, I will update this review if I have any problems with it. But for now, for the price and its functionality (many which I have not used yet), I’m really liking the INNOVA CarScan Pro 5610 Code Scanner – Professional OBD2 Code Reader
