The One about the Monoki Military Tactical Backpack

I have reviewed tactical sling/should packs before but this marks the first time I am reviewing a tactical backpack.

Having been pleased with the Monoki tactical sling pack, I wanted to try out their backpacks.

It’s important to note that these bags are made in China (which many bags are these days), while it does show the American flag, this is not a “Made in USA” product. If you are fine with that, then read on. If not, this product is not for you.

The Monoki Military Tactical Backpack are available in ACU (Army Combat Uniform), Army Green, Black and Black Camo. All are under $31 with the black camo slightly more in price (at $30.99) than the others, while the army green was the cheapest at $27.99.

These bags are made of double-stitched 900D Oxford & Nylon fabric and are durable water-resistant. The bag is 11.81″ inches in width x19.68″ in height x11.81 inches in diameter.

Looking at the front, you will immediately notice the Molle design, with the three velcro strips on the top, four rows of nylon strips on the bottom, each strip has five slots to hook up a carabiner, D-Rings or other related things.

For the making of a good backpack or sling/shoulder bag, my preference are large zippers that don’t break easily.  All zippers on this bag are thick zippers with double zippers, each with a tie at the end of each zipper.  That’s a major plus!

The side of the backpack features six rows of nylon straps to hold things.  Unfortunately, the side does not have a pocket to hold water bottle or thermos but it comes with a water bottle holder which can be attached to the bag.

So you do get two pockets in the front.

The front bottom pocket features a big pouch.  With two small pockets and pen/pencil holders inside.

The top pocket is another large horizontal pouch.

You then have the main pocket which a lot of space to carry clothing or whatever… The bag is 11.81″ inches in width x19.68″ in height x11.81 inches in diameter.  So, you can fit a lot in there!

With that being said, I wouldn’t use it as a laptop bag unless you put towels to protect your laptop, as there is no padding for electronics in the interior of the primary pocket.

The rear pocket can hold a tablet and has a mesh for breathability and slight padding.  It is velcro (unliked the sling packs which were buttoned), which is a plus!

The straps are slightly padded and each strap has a sunglass/glasses loop and two nylon straps on each side.

The top of the backpack has a nylon grip and at the ends are two nyloon hoops to attach things.

Inside, you will find the free gifts that Monoki adds, such as a USA flag patch (there are two, one is the rubber version and the other is a threaded version), a matching water bottle pouch with a carabiner (great for water bottles or thinner thermos bottles), a paracord lanyard keychain with three multipurpose D-Rings Grimlock locking (these are plastic, not metal), a large black drawstring bag and a survival multi-tool!

For the most part, this is a very good tactical backpack.  I wouldn’t use it as a laptop backpack but for anything else, it’s very good.

It would have been perfect to have two side pockets to hold a water bottle/beverage but it comes with a water bottle pouch which can be attached, so it’s not that big of a deal breaker for me.

If anything, this backpack can definitely hold a lot and has plenty of storage, uses big zippers and each zipper, has double zippers which is a plus!

A big question that many people may wonder is if you can use this backpack for traveling overseas and can be used as a carryon. Most airlines require your carryon to be 22 x 14 x 9 max (45 linear inches). This backpack 11.81″ inches in width x19.68″ in height x11.81 inches in diameter which makes it 43.3 linear inches and does make it safe to travel.

Overall, I’m quite impressed by the quality of this Monoki Tactical Sling Backpack.

Great for those traveling or camping outdoors, especially with the molle and nylon straps.  But for those looking for a tactical backpack with a lot of storage.  For those wondering if it’s great for school use, not sure if the material will be able to hold many pounds of books each day but it is double-stitched and is water resistant.
