The One about my favorite time to visit Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden (spring or autumn)

I’m often asked which time of the year that I like to visit Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden and typically it’s spring (during the cherry blossom season) or autumn (when the leaves are colorful) and which do I recommend.

Personally, I think it’s subjective, so if you can make it to Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden and visit in both spring and autumn, I think it’s worth it.

Before I begin, for those who want to know more about Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, please visit my past post.

Before I answer the question, let me showcase photos between the spring and autumn:

Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden (November 29)

OK, now to answer the question.  As you can see, the park really offers two different types of sights to see during the spring and autumn.

And I was actually more mesmerized by the colorful leaves of the autumn.  I never seen colors like this with the yellow, reds, greens, oranges just poppin’.  It was quite amazing and beautiful to see!

As for spring, near the bridge area, where there is water, that is where I found the park to be really beautiful, but the cherry blossoms themselves, I felt you can see it much better at a place like Inokashira Park.  But still, if you want to get a picture with the cherry blossoms, the park allows you to get close up to the trees.

But in the end, I do love visiting Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden during the autumn time.
