The One about Sunmerry’s (bakery) at Narimasu Station in Itabashi

While I was going to Itabashi to visit a famous temple, I stopped by Narimasu Station and saw they had a bakery which I have never heard of before.

Called Sunmerry’s (not to be confused with the popular Taiwan bakery, Sunmerry), the bakery was founded back in 1946 in Akabane Tokyo and during a time when Japanese sweets and sweet cafe’s were popping up in Japan.

Due to World War II, ingredients weren’t fully available, so the company started using sweeteners such as saccharin.

Eventually, Sunmerry’s would grow and specialize in western confectionery and focus on freshly baked bread and more.

Everything you see at a Sunmmery’s bakery is baked everyday and salt used in the breads are all natural and also wants to make nutritious breads such as their Goma no Pan (Sesame), Cheese no Pan (Cheese) and Grain Pan and also using non-GMO ingredients.

As for sauces and ingredients, the company uses ingredients utilized in their long experience with Japanese and western sweets. As for sausages, sausages used at Sunmmery’s are made carefully using freshly ground meat based on an original German recipe and smoked at a smokehouse.

Also, similar to other bakeries but makes Sunmerry’s popular to patrons is the fact they offer 5-6 new items each month, each season.

In fact, you can click here which items are being featured this month.

Unfortunately, photography wasn’t allowed but I will say that the place featured a lot of wonderful bake goods!

If you are ever at Narimasu Station in Itabashi, definitely give Sunmerry’s a chance!
