The One about Fellows the Burger Stand in Kita-Aoyama (right near Omotesando)

Right off of Omotesando (located in Kita-Aoyama, Minato City) is a burger stand that attracts many people and some consider it as one of the best burger restaurants in Tokyo and that’s Fellows.

Fellows is closed on Monday but from Tuesday through Saturday, their hours are 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  While on Sunday, the location is open at 11:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Fellows is different from other restaurants in the fact that they use 100% beef baked on charcoal.   And similar to popular burger restaurants in Tokyo, there may be a wait to be seated.

When I went, there was a line, but I figured I have about two hours to burn before joining with friends.

When you go inside, the restaurant is actually upstairs, so you wait near a stairwell before being served.  As you get closer, they will give you a menu where you can take your order.

Once you get inside, you are seated and like many burger restaurants, you have your Heinz ketchup, yellow mustard and wax paper and tissues available to you.

I decided to order their popular avocado burger with the added egg.

Fellows the Burger Stand no doubt makes one heck of a great burger.

I really do recommend eating at Fellows but many people may ask, why isn’t it in my top ten burgers in Tokyo list.

If there was one negative thing about the Burger Stand, it has to be the long wait.  It’s understandable for places like Munch’s Burger Stand that has a long line for people to wait and get in.  With Fellows, while there was a line (about six people in front of me), it took about 45 min. to an hour to get in, it took another 25-30 minutes just to get served.

Munch’s Burger Shack has a line which one can wait about 30-45 min., but once you get to the door and you make your order, once your seated, your food is served within less than ten minutes.

Remember how I said how I had two hours to burn before meeting up with friends before I went to Fellows?  Fellows nearly took about an hour and half from waiting and line to actually getting my food.  Of my foodie experiences in Tokyo, aside from Sushi-Dai in Tsukiji (which is already known to have one of the longest lines to eat at a restaurant in Japan), not even the line at Tameiken, the line at Munch’s Burger Shack, even the busy Rainbow Pancake in Harajuku, did I ever have to wait that long to get served.

First, let me explain that I’m probably one of the most patient people when it comes to waiting in line at a restaurant.  The longest line I’ve waited was Sushi-Dai when I started at 4:30 a.m. and got served a few minutes before noon.  So, I know about waiting at popular restaurants.  I’m good with that.   But with burger restaurants, I’ve never had to wait that long.

Even at Munch’s Burger Shack, it didn’t take that long from getting in line and waiting to be served.

I honestly do believe if Fellows the Burger Stand is able to decrease the wait time, it will no doubt be on my top ten list but for now, I’ll say it’s in my top 20.

But I do recommend Fellows because they do make great burgers!  I like the ambiance of the restaurant, and having it in the Kita-Aoyama area next to Omotesando is another plus!  The place was clean and I’ve met people from other countries who were excited to eat at Fellow the Burger Stand.

For the most part, it has the potential to be one of the best burger restaurants in Tokyo.  But just know that if you want to eat there, be prepared to wait for quite awhile.
