The One about Ivy Place in Daikanyama

For anyone who is looking for convenient dining in Daikanyama, especially one located right at the Daikanyama T-Site, will want to try Ivy Place.

Ran by the TYSONS & COMPANY known for restaurants such as Shinagawa harbor restaurant T.Y. Harbor, Cat St. coffee shop The Roastery, crisscross in Minamiaoyama, CRISTA steakhouse in Shibuya, soba shop RYAN in Shibuya, French sweets shop Lily Cakes in Shinagawa, to name a few.

But when it comes to restaurants that one will want to experience anytime of the day between 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and a bar open from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., it’s no doubt a convenient, lush (thanks to the greenery surrounding the restaurant) and beautiful location in the fashionable Daikanyama area.

While I am a self-professed Blu-Jam Cafe in Daikanyama fan when it comes to breakfast, there is one advantage that Ivy Place has that I absolutely love and that it is right directly across from Tsutaya Bookstore at Daikanyama T-Site, which this location and the Nakameguro location are my favorites to visit.

As for the interior, it’s well-staffed, clean and spacious.  May you want to eat indoor or outdoor, it’s no doubt a cool location to dine at.  In fact, when it comes to large dining areas that resemble a popular steakhouse or hip diner that one can eat in California.

I automatically realized it was a TYSON restaurant when I found out that they sourced their beans from The Roastery by Nozy Coffee, a coffee roastery location that I have visited a few times at the Cat St. location.

Now I notice that people tend to use the words “upper class dining” to describe Ivy Place.  That throws people off because upper class dining is typically very pricey.  I’ve eaten at numerous upper class dining locations where sushi or Kobe beef are expensive.

Ivy Place is normal in a Tokyo kind of way in terms of pricing for a restaurant…Y1500-4000 including drink.

First, their menu tends to change with the season from what I noticed but prices tend to be Y1300-2200 for breakfast and around Y2800 for dinner.  The Weekly Lunch Course is about Y3800.

Many come to Ivy Place primarily to try their buttermilk pancakes but I wasn’t in the mood for pancake and decided I wanted the smoked salmon tartine with boiled egg, ikura, fresh dill and saffron cream for Y1600 (note: This is not a full sandwich, it’s like half a sandwich, so it is a bit pricey in that aspect.  If you want bigger portions, then Blu Jam Cafe in Daikanyama is for you!) and their homemade lemonade which was Y750.

If anything, I feel the drinks (click here for the drink menu) are more expensive at Ivy Place., it’s like ballpark prices.

For the most part, I love Ivy Place for it’s overall ambiance, it’s location, customer service and the vibe!

And it’s great to know of another morning restaurant in Tokyo that believes in early morning breakfast which is still a rarity in Japan.

It’s also a good place to bring family, friends and co-workers but it’s not for everyone because of price per portion ratio.  Nor is it for those who are traveling to Tokyo and eating on a strict budget.

Ivy Place in Daikanyama is a great place to dine for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I do recommend this restaurant!
