The One about Conbini Food Part 1: Chicken Karaage meal at 7-Eleven

I realize that whenever I’m in Japan, I take a lot of food photos at restaurants but also the things I eat at a convenience store (shortened to “conbini” in Japanese).  All for the purpose of blogging about it.

And I figured on days where work is plentiful and I have not much time to do much posting, I will post these conbini food reviews from time to time.

The first will be the chicken karaage set from 7-Eleven which comes with white rice with sesame seeds and this small vegetable side dish (egg, carrot and spinach?).

Chicken karaage is Japanese fried chicken which is marinated in sake, soy sauce, ginger and garlic and coated with potato starch.

It’s absolutely juicy and delicious and I haven’t tried a bad karaage yet in Japan, including the convenience stores.

Paired with the rice and you have yourself a great lunch or dinner meal for Y450 (which is like $4 US).

But for anyone visiting Japan and want an inexpensive meal at 7-Eleven, Food Mart, Lawson, etc., you really can’t go wrong with chicken karaage dishes!
