The One about “OMSI 2” City & Regionbus 200 Series DLC

For today’s review, I am taking a look at the City & Regionbus 200 Series from developer Long Vehicle’s Team.

The developer is known for their 2023 DLC “Coachbus 303-Series”, so I did a test to check out the bus and here are my thoughts.

Before I begin, I am an avid traveler who have ridden in many planes, trains and automobiles and buses are vehicles that I have partaken in.

With that being said, I’m not a technical fan, that looks to perfection or sound perfection. If you were to play a bus I rode in worldwide, I couldn’t tell you which is which by hearing a sound (station jingle, perhaps but not engine sounds or what the driver sees (although I have many videos shot on trips, I was never focused on their dash). But some people have that nack and interest… I don’t.

CITY & REGIONBUS 200 SERIES

So, what is this bus based on? Of course, you can’t use the official licenses without paying for it, so many OMSI 2 creators make buses based on a classic bus without any specific logos showing.

This particular bus is based on the Setra buses, 200-series models and a German bus brand of Daimler Buses.

Setra stands for “selbsttragend” (self-supporting) but in 1995, Daimler used “Setra”(but before, it was operated by Karl Kassbohrer Fahrzeugwerke GmbH (the famous family who built Viennese barges since the 1560’s, the first horse drawn coach in 1899, and the first coach buses in 1910).

While some may wonder if someone would ever create these classic Setra buses for “OMSI 2”, even the 10 series of the ’50s, the ‘100 series of the ’60s.

At least we can say that the 200 series are on “OMSI 2” and these are trains that operated from 1976-1994.

With the release of the 200 series in 1976, we had the 25th birthday of Setra and six models were released that year. One of these models are featured on “OMSI 2”, the S215H (High-Floor Vehicles) but you also get much more in this DLC:

S213 – S213 UL City, S213 UL Region
SG221 – SG221 UL Manual and Automatic, SG221 UL Automatic, SG 221 UL 3X Articulated (Manual and Automatic)
S215H – Dorestayl and Restayl
S215HD – Intercity/Tourist Version – Long Distance buses with an OM-442 engine and ZF-S6-86 manual transmission and S215HD 442LA (Intercity/Tourist Version) – Regional Routes with an OM-442LA engine and ZF-S8-180 manual transmission

That is a lot of buses on this DLC!!!

And each has up to 10 different livery (some are shared livery) but at least you have different colors and looks to choose from.

And some with different dash and IBIS systems such as the Krueger matrix board and the Brose rollband board. Mobitronic, universal design for the 213,

And there are a wide range of configurations for SETVARs.

GAMEPLAY:

I absolutely had fun using these buses but first let me get this out, there are no problems with the six S213 buses or the S215 buses. These run perfectly fine!

E to start, M to start the engine, L for lights and the typical buttons you would use to open the doors.

IBIS is a pain and I was hoping that the manual would shed more light on how to use this (btw, manual is Word Document and not PDF). But fortunately, I have so many other DLC that are similar, so by experience and some experimentation, I was able to get this going. But really, just set the train schedule and the rollband which is a big help.

There are also some extra additions such as the ability to open the engine door, the bay doors which is cool. Fortunately, you don’t have to do some of the complicated button presses on the engines like certain Russian buses.

OK, so far so good! I would give this a thumbs up!!! BUT…

MAJOR PROBLEM:

As mentioned, the 213’s and the 215’s worked perfectly. It’s until you start using the SG221 Articulated Buses (Automatic and Manual), 3x or 4x doors, then you will be sad. I mean truly sad!

One set of the doors (middle in 3X) or one of the middle doors in 4X will stay open and won’t close.

While I was able to drive the articulated buses, you could do it if you don’t open and close the middle doors.

There is a major bug that hasn’t been fixed and it’s 2026, this DLC was released in November 2024.

The middle doors do not close. If you can’t close it, you can’t drive. And you will have to start a new game and start anew with a non-221 bus or a 221 bus but not opening a middle door. Force everyone from the front or the back door.

But I know… To me this is a gamebreaker if you wanted to use the articulated SG221 buses. The button will not respond to close. There is no dirty sensor to clean. You can use your mouse to try to close the door manually but it will not stay close, it will open and swing back out. Nor is going to the options and setting maintenance from Infinity to Good or vice versa, there is no fix for it.

BUT A LOT OF OMSI 2 BUS DLCs HAVE BUGS RIGHT?

But this bug for the articulated buses, if a door can not close, you can not drive. Your best bet is to completely start over and use a non-221 bus or drive the articulated bus, just open only the front and last doors at a time and try to avoid the middle door(s).

But seriously, why should SG221 bus fans have to deal with that?

JUDGMENT CALL:

I wish there was a neutral rating because on one hand, the 213 and 215 buses work great! Six of them work great! And enjoyed using them and because of that, I can’t give a negative rating. Because these work great!

The 221’s on the other hand has the middle door bug which is terrible! And for this alone, I would give a negative review if I am super huge on articulated buses.

But because there are so many articulated bus DLC’s on OMSI 2, the fact that the 213 and 215 buses work is more than enough for me to give a thumbs up, but if there were point differentials vs. a thumbs up or thumbs down. I would score this a 6/10 because of the articulated bus problem or a neutral rating.

But I can’t give a thumbs down because the regular buses are so fun and cool. But if you want a complete, perfect DLC, unfortunately until Long Vehicle Team decides to update and fix the bugs in 2026 (and as you can see, there are other developers who still update their DLCs to this day), this is the best advice I can give…

Buy Cheap on Sale if you want the Setra 200 Series buses in your OMSI 2 collection BUT come with the knowledge that regular buses work perfectly but articulated buses do not.

I am giving it a lukewarm positive because I really do enjoy this DLC A LOT for its (working) buses and what it offers. More bang for the buck when on sale! But it is what it is, some buses are broken.

Again, while S213 and S215 bus fans don’t have to worry, I primarily feel bad for SG221 fans who get this DLC and are expecting for a fun time but having to deal with this awful bug.

If by any chance Long Vehicle’s Team comes back to update this DLC and fix the bugs, this would be one of the better DLCs for OMSI 2 to own. It’s 2026, we are looking forward to a new DLC from the team, but at least make it right by fixing this DLC.

It’s too good of a DLC to leave it at this state. You’re close to achieving something awesome but please don’t leave it with the SG221’s with a game killing bug.
