JOURNAL STANDARD relume, operated by Baycrews Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), will release a special edition pair of shorts in collaboration with DAIWA, a brand that seamlessly connects various outdoor scenes starting with fishing, for two consecutive months.
■Release in mid-May: DAIWA exclusive board shorts
The custom-made board shorts by JOURNAL STANDARD relume and DAIWA, which were a hit last year, are finally making a comeback.
The “D-VEC” logo, a symbol of the DAIWA apparel line, has been changed from a rubber print in the regular line to a smaller, tone-on-tone embroidery in this relume exclusive.
By toning down the prominence of the logo, we’ve reduced the sporty feel and updated the design to a more urban style that blends well with everyday wear.
The material used is a comfortable fabric with a dry touch that doesn’t feel sticky even when you sweat. It also has moderate stretch, so it can move freely and comfortably even during active activities.
Furthermore, it has a water-repellent finish, so you can wear it without worry in waterside situations such as leisure activities at the beach or river, camping, and summer festivals.
The elastic waistband and drawstring ensure an easy and comfortable fit.
The back features a zippered pocket, and the interior has dividers, making it a practical design that allows you to store smartphones, keys, and other items separately.

These high-spec shorts, completely custom-made by DAIWA, are suitable for everything from city wear to outdoor activities.
Based on the “DAIWA” Multi-Field line shorts, which are designed to handle various outdoor scenes starting with fishing, this is a completely custom-made model by relume that has been adapted to be more suitable for everyday wear in the city.
The base inline model was a waterproof and breathable rain short, but for this special order, the material has been boldly changed to CORDURA(R) nylon.
By blending in polyurethane, we’ve achieved not only toughness but also excellent stretchability.
Furthermore, the water-resistant zippered front pocket, which was used in the original line, has been deliberately omitted, resulting in a smarter pocket design that is easier for everyday use.
We’ve reduced the stiffness and stuffiness typical of rainwear, resulting in a more casual and comfortable fit.
The DAIWA signature functional design, including the ventilation on the inside of the waistband, remains unchanged. This allows moisture to escape from inside the garment, ensuring comfortable wear even in the height of summer.
Furthermore, as a custom order, the spacing of the stitching on the ventilation area has also been finely adjusted.
The waistband features a buckle that can be adjusted with one hand. It’s also water-repellent, making it suitable for sudden weather changes and waterside activities.
They’re durable enough to withstand heavy wear, and their easy-care features, including the ability to be washed at home, are also a major draw.
