FG knot (connecting PE line and leader) is the most popular friction knot for connecting PE line and leader. Because it produces a small knot and is less likely to snag on guides, it’s a standard choice for all types of lure fishing (casting, jigging, eging, etc.).
The primary disadvantages of the FG knot are its high difficulty to tie, especially in windy or unstable conditions, and its requirement for100% perfect execution to avoid silent, under-load failure. It is time-consuming, can slip if not cinched tightly, and does not work well with all line types or when the leader is weaker than the braid.
