Pizza Slice 2, the second location for the popular New York style pizza business by Sarumaru Hiroki. A location known for many parties and events. Many I have been privy too and nothing but great memories.
Sarumaru posted on Instagram last summer that Pizza Slice 2 would be moving to Cat St. in Harajuku which would be a great location.
Sarumaru wrote (translate in English):
We will be closing our current store on September 18th (Monday) and moving to Cat Street in Harajuku at the end of November (scheduled).
Since we opened in 2016, many customers have come and eaten our pizza.
I was also really happy that the store could be used for various purposes such as events and POP UP.

When I think back to the day we opened, it feels like just recently, but before I knew it, seven and a half years had passed.
When we first opened, I had just turned 30, and we were a team of only teenagers and people in our 20s, and it was our first time opening a store, and it was a large space, so it was a bit of an inconvenience for customers and other people involved. I’m sure there were a lot of times where we faced a lot of trouble, but we were able to learn a lot every day and grow a lot.
There were many happy times and many difficult times, but when I look back, I remember them all as good things.
I am also very grateful to Yamamoto Koichiro and United Arrows Co., Ltd. for giving me this valuable opportunity and experience.

It’s been seven and a half years, but I would be happy if PIZZA SLICE2 continues to live in the memories of everyone who visits the store.

Around the pandemic, Sarumaru grew the business to four locations including the 1st restaurant in Daikanyama, Pizza Slice 2, Pizza Slice & Soda Fountain in Roppongi and the Nihonbashi Pizza Slice Commissary location.But as of February 2024, it’s now down to two, with the hope that Pizza Slice 2 relocates in Cat St., Harajuku.
As of today, the latest update from Sarumaru on Instagram for the relocation of Pizza Slice 2 was “In early 2024, we will open a new store along Harajuku’s Cat Street, so we look forward to letting you know as soon as the opening date is decided!”.
If anything, I hope Pizza Slice 2 has an awesome return. Not sure if it will be smaller than the previous location, or if it will be able to host any events or parties but just glad to have experienced the Pizza Slice 2 atmosphere.
