The One about the VOCIC Mobility-Scooter (2024 Version)

A mobility scooter is useful for elderly who are unable to walk, people who have developed a long term disability or injury and need mobility to do certain tasks.

I’ve seen these scooters used by those with disabilities and those who have major injuries and as I have family members who have suffered injury and are having difficulty walking, I figured this would be good to have.

And so I am reviewing the VOCIC Mobility-Scooter (2024 Version).

I did look at numerous videos and loved the ease and use of the mobility scooter but what you see from a company’s video may differ what consumers get in reality. So, this would be the first test.

Upon receiving the VOCIC Mobility-Scooter (2024 Version), while it was well-packaged, there were a few immediate concerns.

I noticed immediately that the key switch had sharp metal sticking out. So, I figured I would deal with that later. Let’s put things together first!

And for the most part, everything is easy to install. From the battery, the seat, the front light, basket and somewhat…the mirrors.

Everything was way easy to put together and while I wished the instructions had more pictures, I had to refer to the company’s YouTube videos just in case.

I liked how easy it was to put a brake like switch to make the scooter move manually and to lock it in place.

I liked how the seat can be easily positioned.

I also liked how cool the mobility scooter looked and how easy it was to put together.

But now, let’s get to the problems which I discovered.

First, the side mirrors. While it’s easy to screw on to the handle bar, my right side snapped off the bar. This was shocking because I figured the metal screw would screw in easily and it would be strong. But instead it snapped like a toothpick and there was no blunt force applied to it. The problem is around the base area where the screw (which connects to the handlebars) is connected to the mirror portion. It snapped at that edge. Not sure if VOCIC will replace it or I have to purchase a replacement.

But the biggest problem. Remember when I said I saw a sharp metal piece on the key switch area. Well, the key wouldn’t fit. Taking a close look at the metal, it seems that the switch portion that was installed to this particular mobility scooter was in bad shape. So, how was I able to get the key into it? I had to take a flathead screwdriver to insert and shave a piece of that sharp metal and then any bent areas, the flat edge would make the metal go out a bit, so the key would just fit and go inside. It worked!

While it worked, no one should have to do what I had to do. And while I’m not going to blame the maker, as it could be just this unit and possibly the switch was damaged during shipping, I was a bit disappointed that not only did I have a broken right screw portion from the mirror, but had to deal with a key switch that couldn’t go in easily.

But I got it to work and I was able to start moving on the mobility scooter. The battery was already full (there is a light indicator also on the bars to show you the battery indicator).

I did notice sometimes, I would hear the horn go off in a static sound. Again, not sure if this is just this vehicle but a few times it would happen and then the sound disappears.

But it worked, there is good speed and for the most part, I wanted to test to make sure, it can go over small bumps or even driveways that have a slight incline. While it worked, it’s probably not the most safest (as the person will feel that bump).

But for the most part, if it’s for flat surfaces, ie. grocery store or allowing for one to do their tasks but have limited movement, the mobility scooter does help a lot and that’s why I do like this VOCIC Mobility Scooter.

It did give me problems, but if I didn’t have those issues, I would have given it a five star review because it does work well, when things go well.  But for the issues I have encountered, I will be giving the VOCIC Mobility-Scooter (2024 Version), 3.5 stars.
