The One about the ULANZI RGB Video Lights (VL49)

I have utilized many camera lights in the past. But this is my first light which generates different light colors and best of all it’s rechargeable.

I have used hot shoe camera lights that were a bit heavy and would take like 6-8 AA batteries. They were very bright and worked well but one of the advantages of the ULANZI RGB Video Lights (VL49) is that it’s small and rechargeable thanks to its 2000mAh battery.

This VL49 is the latest version that has an illumination angle of 120 degrees and can reach 800 [email protected].

In addition, brightness levels can be adjusted from 0-100%, hue adjustable from 0 degree-359 degree, color temperatures featuring 2500K (warm) to 9000k (cold). And you can cycle through 13 sets of emergency/strobe lights.

The device can be charged via a USB-C cable and charging time is about 2 hours with brightness at minimum giving 10 hours.

The device is easy to use thanks to its three buttons and the off/on switch. And for the most part, you can easily change colors from pink, red, purple, blue, cyan, green, orange and more.

I was quite happy that this device does give bright light and works great for portrait or macro shots.

Overall, the portability and how this device is rechargeable shows how much camera light technology has gotten better over the years and for under $30, I do recommend the ULANZI RGB Video Lights VL49.
