Jess, a concert violinist who has lost her passion, visits Vienna for Christmas. There she finds the inspiration she has been missing with an American diplomat and his children. Stars Sarah Drew and Brennan Elliott.

For day 48, I am watching “Christmas in Vienna”, a Hallmark film starring Sarah Drew.  And shocker, it’s not Lifetime but a Hallmark film.

This was surprising to me as Sarah Drew (best known on “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Cruel Summer”, “Amber Brown”) has established herself as one of the most popular actresses for Lifetime holiday films, but after her awesome performance in the 2019 Lifetime holiday film “Twinkle All the Way”, Hallmark casted her for “Christmas in Vienna” for 2020 before returning back to Lifetime for the 2022 holiday film “Reindeer Games Homecoming”.

And starring with her is one of Hallmark Channel’s most popular actors, Brennan Elliott (and often appearing alongside Lacey Chabert).

The film is directed by Maclain Nelson (“Show Offs”, “Once I was a Beehive”) and written by popular holiday telefilm writer Joie Botkin (“Project Christmas Wish”, The Christmas Contest”).

The film revolves around popular violinist Jess Waters (portrayed by Sarah Drew) who is losing her love of performing music and is contemplating saying goodbye to the violin.

She visits Vienna during the holidays to visit her friend Tori (portrayed by Alina Fritsch), who is the nanny for widower Mark Olson (portrayed by Brennan Elliott) and his three children Summer (portrayed by Allegra Tinnefeld), Julian (portrayed by Oskar Ricketts) and Isla (portrayed by Abigail Vollnhofer).

Tori is offered a chance to broaden her business during the day and asks Jess if she can watch over Mark’s children.

While in Vienna, one of the first people she meets is Mark and when she goes to visit the kids and their father, she is shocked to find out the man she met earlier, Mark, is the father of the children and while with the children, she is there to help them.  With Summer, to support her as a singer, Julian as a person who studies German and Isla (teaching her to play violin).

And through the time of being together, Jess starts to feel that passion again to play music.  Will she find the reason of what makes her want to play again?

But when these two who haven’t been in a romantic relationship in a while, are they ready to be in a relationship?  But with Jess based in America and Mark being offered a promotion and often moves, can these two fall in love?

Once again, I am watching another wonderful Sarah Drew holiday film.  My goodness, I don’t think I have watched a bad holiday film featuring Sarah yet, and it’s one of the reasons why she has become one of the top holiday actresses.  She brings a certain fun and romantic energy into her films that would make any person who watches her, to be entertained.  Definitely an interesting juxtaposition to her more sometimes unstable character on “Grey’s Anatomy”.

Brennan Elliott as usual is a Hallmark established actor who can really take on any roll and in this case, the cool working and busy father figure.

But a wonderful holiday film, great Christmas vibes, wonderful production and music and also acting from two well-established holiday film professionals.  “Christmas in Vienna” is recommended!
