It’s a holiday film that both children and adults can enjoy but among the many holiday telefilms about “princes” or “princesses”, “A Princess for Christmas” is one of the better holiday telefilms that I definitely recommend watching.

At the invitation of an estranged relative, a young woman travels with her niece and nephew to a castle in Europe for Christmas, where she unwittingly falls for a dashing Prince.
Actor/singer/filmmaker/producer Michael Damian and wife, producer/actress Janeen Damian have are becoming more active in the Christmas production films as of late. But one of their earlier production works is a film known as “A Princess for Christmas” (in the UK, known as “A Christmas Princess: Sometimes Dreams Come True”).
The film premiered on the Hallmark Channel back in 2011 and stars Katie McGrath (“Jurassic World”, “Supergirl”, “Merlin”), Roger Moore (“Moonraker”, “The Spy Who Loved Me”, “For Your Eyes Only”), Sam Heughan (“Outlander”, “Island at War”), Travis Turner and Leilah de Meza (“Alice Through the Looking Glass”, “Lucky Man”) and more.
The film revolves around Jules Daly (portrayed by Katie McGrath), who is the guardian of her sister’s children, Milo (portrayed by Travis Turner) and Maddie (portrayed by Leilah de Meza). Her sister and her brother-in-law died in a car accident and it’s been a difficult few years.
And to make matters worse, Jules has lost her job at an antique shop, meanwhile Milo is stealing and Maddie is driving the babysitters crazy that they quit.
While things are not looking so great for the family, out of nowhere, a man named Paisley Winterbottom (portrayed by Miles Richardson) shows up that the children’s grandfather, Edward Duke of Castlebury (portrayed by Roger Moore) wants to see his grandchildren as his health is not so great.
Wanting the children to see their grandfather, which could be their last time, the three agree to go.
Once arriving to Europe, they kids find out that their father’s family is very wealthy and as for Edward Duke of Castlebury, he hasn’t been doing well since the death of his son and has been a bit cold and bitter.
Meanwhile, his other son, Ashton Prince of Castlebury (portrayed by Sam Heughan) is engaged to Lady Arabella Marchand du Belmont (portrayed by Charlotte salt) is shocked to see his brother’s family at the house. And how different they are.
But as Jules stays at the Duke of Castlebury’s home, she wants everyone to celebrate Christmas with family, despite the Edward not being the most Christmas loving type of guy.
And as Jules and the kids stay, despite their troubles, they still manage to bring some light into everyone around them and also receiving it right back. Perhaps what is needed during the holiday season is family?
If anything, I enjoyed this film and to be truthful, I had no idea that Michael Damian and his wife Janeen have become producers in the demanding Christmas holiday film industry (which many actors and talents have found their calling). Michael Damian was no doubt a popular actor known for his work on daytime soap operas and also had a good music career but it’s good to see that both husband and wife have been very active in making holiday films and I look forward to reviewing the more recent ones this season.
But watching this holiday film, it was good for me to see actress Katie McGrath in the main role as the loving aunt raising two children as best as she could, but also being the glue that brings everything together for this family who has suffered from the darkness of losing loved ones.
It’s a holiday film that both children and adults can enjoy but among the many holiday telefilms about “princes” or “princesses”, “A Princess for Christmas” is one of the better holiday telefilms that I definitely recommend watching.
