The One about Yuragi – For you, Adroit it but soft (2021) (Digital Version)

If there is one thing that remains consistent is that the band can deliver shoegaze music and the vocals of miraco make you feel that you entered a dreamscape and her vocals call onto you. A solid album overall.

In 2015, miraco (vocalist/guitarist/pianist) and Yusei (drums/sampler) formed the shoegaze band “Yuragi” along with members, Kntr (guitar/synth) and Uji (bass) and released their first single “bedside” in 2016.

The band would release their first ep that year titled “nightlife EP” and by 2018, they were signed to the label FLAKE SOUNDS and released their EP “Still Dreaming, Still Deafening” which received nationwide distribution.

They also released a remix album in 2019 titled “Still Dreaming, Still Deafening Remixes & Rarities” featuring remixes by 9:en, Kntr, singular balance, Big Animal Theory, and Kogane.

And the band remains one of the highlights of Japanese shoegaze music.

In 2021, the band released their first album “For you, Adroit it but soft” (Adroit means to be clever or skillful in using the hands or mind) which includes their singles “Underneath It All” and “While My Waves Wonder” and an album in which the band does a bit of experimenting.

From their shoegaze style, we also see the group explorer beat-heavy style of music and also an acoustic track.

The album “For you, Adroit it but soft” definitely shows growth in the band and their music is dreamy and captivating.  But some tracks are more or less experimental music with no vocals, with the opening track “While the Sand’s Over” is more like an intro track setting up their song “Sunlight’s Everywhere”.

Aside from their two single tracks, you have solid tracks such as their longest track on the album “Sunlight’s Everywhere”, the dreamy “That Blue, I’ll be coming” which I love how it starts soft and then the churning guitars towards the end.

You also have the short but beat-inducing “Dark Blue (feat. Big Animal Theory)” and “An Atrium”, the acoustic guitar track “The Memorable Track” and the exciting “I Want You By My Side”.

If anything, this is a pretty good album from Yuragi. The shoegaze tracks do stand out, but the short songs are just too short and you wish the band could have expanded more into it, because otherwise it becomes another EP.

But if there is one thing that remains consistent is that the band can deliver shoegaze music and the vocals of miraco make you feel that you entered a dreamscape and her vocals call onto you. A solid album overall.
