The One about “G.I. Joe: The Real American Hero” 40th Anniversary

As I was perusing YouTube during the July 4th holiday weekend, I cam across Hasbro videos showcasing non-stop G.I. Joe cartoon marathons for the original Sunbow “G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero” series and “G.I. Joe: Renegades”.

Now some may be wondering, wasn’t the 40th anniversary back in 2003? That anniversary was for the 40th anniversary of the original G.I. Joe figures that were released back in 1964.

But for many of us who grew up during the ’80s, “G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero” is a series that many of us have watched. “G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero” debuted in 1983 through 1986 with a total of 95 episodes produced. With a animated film released in 1987 (Side note: “G.I. Joe: The Movie” was supposed to be released theatrically, but because “The Transformers: The Movie” was a box office failure in 1986, it was released direct to video).

I have deep love for “G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero” because along with “Star Wars”, “Transformers”, “Masters of the Universe”, “G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero” is closest to my heart as it was the toy line that I would look for in the big Sears catalog and ask my grandparents to get me for Christmas.  While I read the Marvel Comic books.

I will post more about “G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero” as Hasbro and fans celebrate the 40th anniversary.

But for those who grew up with the animated series, reminisce by watching it again on YouTube:
