The one about the Lybuorze Outdoor Camera (Wireless/Battery Powered)

For today’s outdoor camera review, I am trying the Lybuorze Outdoor Camera (Wireless/Battery Powered).

While I have outdoor cameras, I needed one for more vehicle coverage but also one that looks out towards the neighbors as well.

Now for those wondering what key factors that made me want to get this camera.

Here are the reasons:

  • Outdoor wireless use/battery powered – While one can opt for wired cameras which are powered by electricity, in my garage I have one outlet available and its way too far of where I want my cameras to be and for convenience, I don’t mind using these inexpensive outdoor wireless cameras which last quite a while and probably needs a charge once a month or even longer.
  • Uses VicoHome App – If you plan to purchase outdoor security cameras and add to it, you want to use an app that these security cameras can utilize.  Many companies use proprietary software, but so far, I have been pleased with the VicoHome app and the Lybuorze Outdoor Camera (Wireless/Battery Powered) was perfect for an added security camera.

So, the first thing you want to do is charge the device.  While it does hold a partial charge, you want it at 100%.

After charging, add it to your VicoHome App by adding the device and pairing is very easy.  Please note, I put in a mini SD card (this camera supports up to 128GB), as I want it to save videos (sometimes if there is a theft or something in the area, police will ask if you h have camera footage).  You do have a choice if you want your videos to save in SD or HD.

Once paired, the next step is going outside and getting the camera ready and installing the base station (screws are included) to your home or wherever you want the camera to be located.

What I like about this camera is that it uses a ball type rotation, so you can position the security camera at certain angles.  My other one is stationary but it has built in controls for its lenses.  This camera is good for fixed positions.

Now using the VicoHome app, this camera does not allow you to move the lens via software left to right or up and down but it does allow you to speak and the other person on the app can hear as well (via sound mode), there is also Audible Alarm (if you want each motion to trigger an alarm or you can initiate it yourself), it also has white light mode which will turn on a light (if the night light is too hard for one to see).  Granted, this is the basic free plan which is pretty good.

Also, as standard with the free plan, you have control over motion detection and also how many seconds of video you can save (as long as you installed an mini-SD card, as this camera device does not come with one).  It’s important to note that I would leave it at low and not high motion sensitivity, if you have plants nearby.  The shadows of our tree branches tends to trigger the camera, so it does detect movement quite well, but you may find yourself putting it to low, so you don’t get too many notifications.

The paid version of the VICO app allows for better motion data and cloud storage (prices for the pro version is about $8 per month, $24 for three months or $95 per year) and if you use security camera apps using the VICO app, you just need one subscription not multiple.  There is a cheaper basic package and plus package as well.

But for many people, the basic free package may be enough.

Overall, may it be used as a primary or secondary camera, the Lybuorze Outdoor Camera (Wireless/Battery Powered) is worth checking out!
