City girl and travel blogger, Aubrey, goes to the little town of Solvang for her holiday vlog piece after it’s voted Most Christmassy Town in the USA. She soon meets Sawyer, a community coordinator and chocolate shop owner assigned to show her around. At first, the unlikely pairing is at odds but soon start to fall for each other amidst the twinkling lights of the romantic Danish village.

For day 46, I took a look at “A Very Charming Christmas Town”, a Lifetime Television film directed and written by Jake Helgren.

The film stars Natalie Hall (“Pretty Little Liars”, “Only the Brave”, “All My Children”), Mark Hapka (“Days of Our Lives”, “Parallels”), Jon Prescott (“The Holiday”, “One Life to Live”), Kelley Jakle (“Pitch Perfect” films), Jo Marie Payton (“Family Matters”, “Will & Grace”), Tracy E. Bregman (“The Young and the Restless”, “The Bold and the Beautiful”, “Days of Our Lives”), Autumn Federici, Joe Lando (“Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman”) and Lexi Giovagnoli.

The film revolves around Aubrey Lang (portrayed by Natalie Hall), a former music writer now travel and lifestyle blogger, which she runs alongside with her older sister Reagan (portrayed by Autumn Federici).  As the popular blog is trying to attract advertisers, they are needing a major article and Reagan wants Aubrey to drive to Solvang, a California town voted top Christmas town in the country.

So, for Los Angeles city girl Aubrey, she decides to see if Solvang being a Christmas town is for real, or if it’s just a tourist trap.

When Aubrey arrives, and tries to take photos of the town (standing in the middle of the street), a man tells to get out of the way, which Aubrey falls on the snow.  Needless to say, the interaction with the man which Aubrey claims tried to run her over, the two don’t get along.

Aubrey checks into the inn owned by Laurel (portrayed by Kelley Jakle) and her husband Hayden (portrayed by Mark Hapka) and she is given the best room.

As Aubrey goes to look for someone to give her a tour around the city, the person assigned to show her around town happens to be the man she met earlier and didn’t get along with, Sawyer Larsen (portrayed by Jon Prescott).

Needless to say, things don’t go so well as Aubrey thinks that the town made itself to a Christmas town because it’s a tourist trap, but Sawyer is defensive because it’s their town’s tradition and the locals truly love the Christmas holiday.  So, she wants him to show what makes Solvang so special and unique.

What will Aubrey discover while staying in Solvang?

I have to say that I found “A Very Charming Christmas Town” to be a delightful, romantic comedy.  It’s also unique in a way that it focuses on an actual real location, Solvang, which is a Danish-style town in California.  It’s also one of the most festive Christmas cities in the United States.

So, to have a film where the city of Solvang plays a major part in this telefilm is quite rare to see.

And for the most part, watching the two characters Aubrey and Sawyer’s relationship grows as they spend more time with each other, but also to see Aubrey fall in love with Solvang is quite fun to see.  But equally important, how the other characters in the film play a big part in building the love of Solvang during Christmas time.

There are also some twists and turns as we learn about Aubrey’s past and also what happens when her article is featured on the blog.

Overall, It’s one of those special holiday films that I’ve discovered through my holiday film marathon and I definitely recommend “A Very Charming Christmas Town”.
