The One about the Meike MK-MP2 Camera Shotgun Microphone

I have to say that I was a bit hesitant on checking out the Meike MK-MP2 Camera Shotgun Microphone.  Primarily because when I tried the Meike MP1 Shotgun Mic, it didn’t work.  It was terrible and others who reviewed it, couldn’t get it to work.  I couldn’t get it to work and I pretty much saw it as dead on arrival (DOA).

So, when I saw that the Meike MK-MP2 Camera Shotgun Microphone ran off a single AAA battery and was much easier to use, I had to give Meike a second chance.  In fact, it was easy to get started immediately unlike the horrible MP1.

In fact, right off the bat, you can see how it looks much better thanks to its NCR noise reduction recording technology.

Now, the back panel is great as there is a power off and on and then there is a Sensitivity Enhancement Switch for 0dB for normal record state and the other is +10dB for Enhancement pickup for long-distance pickup.  And there is a setting for Low Cut Switch (normal work state) and the other without Low Cut.

I did a test and for the most part it worked.  For those who use auto-focus, the mic is going to catch the sound quite loudly, so best to manually focus.

But for the most part, it worked well but not sure about others, but I found it much more pleasing to have the sound set at +10dB.

But overall, the price for this shotgun mic makes this quite affordable and it works great.  So, I’m glad I tested the Meike MK-MP2….which is way better than the MP1 (I know some may want to get the MP1 because it’s cheaper, but I highly recommend you don’t and go for the Meike MK-MP2 Camera Shotgun Microphone!).
