The One about Kawagoe Station

Back in April 1915, Kawagoe Nishimachi Station was opened. It was a location which Tojo Railway would run through and in 1920, the railway became known as Tobu Railway Toju Main Line Station before receiving the name Kawagoe Station in July 1940.

Fastforward to 1987 and the station would incorporate JR East, and both Tobu Railway and JR East ticket gates would be featured in 1989 and the incorporation of the IC Card, Suica would be implemented in 2001.

Both Tobu and JR East Stations are side by side, Tobu is on the East Side, JR East on the West side.

While Kawagoe Station would have major renovations in 2004, including the inclusion of the LUMINE Kawagoe store, the JR East side will be renewed around July 2020 in time before the Olympics and will include an exterior ticket gate and automatic ticket vending machines will be relocated.

If anything, for those in the Kawagoe, Saitama area, the station is a solid destination not just to take a Tobu Railway or JR East train.  The station has a lot of shopping, restaurants and much more to offer.  Especially with the Tobu side of the station with the Equia Kawagoe shopping locations.

But overall, a station that I enjoy visiting, when I’m out to explore Kawagoe.
