The One about the LEGO City Donut Shop Opening 60233

When it comes to LEGO, I absolute love LEGO CITY and LEGO Creator sets.

As a child, I always wanted to build a neighborhood of LEGO buildings and with the release of the LEGO Creative Modulars, I have been a big fan of the line.

And while LEGO Creative receives a lot of publicity, I have to say the sets released on the LEGO CITY line have also been wonderful and they are also cheaper than LEGO Creative.

While LEGO CITY buildings tend to be police or fire dept. related, there are some that work very well with the cheaper LEGO Creatives such as the Bike Shop & Cafe (31026).

With LEGO CITY’s Donut Shop Opening (60233), the set features a donut/coffee shop, toy shop, LEGO CITY vehicles such as a TV station, a City Coffee cargo bike, a taxi, a police motor bike and the big one is a big truck with a crane (to set the donut on top of a building).

Of course, to incorporate that LEGO CITY police theme, included are 10 minifigures which include the Crane Driver/operator, a kid on a skateboard, camera man, TV reporter, City Coffee Shop barista, City Coffee street vendor/barista, toy shop worker, taxi driver and the LEGO policeman – Duke DeTain and a crook.

And that’s where I think the differences from the creator line is that while the LEGO minifigures would also appear on LEGO Creative, the policeman and robber are typical LEGO CITY releases.

The set comes with 790 pieces and considering the size, you would think there would be over a thousand pieces but the bricks to make the building are bigger but when you start to incorporate the buildings, the vehicles, the minifigures and price per brick, you are actually getting a very good deal on this set.

The actual building of the set is much easier. Vehicles use larger parts and are not difficult to put together. And the fact that it is recommended for ages 6+, this is a great set for parents and children to put together for an hour or two.

For me, this is a wonderful set as I always am open to see shops that I, myself go to in real life. A coffee/donut shop are a must and while LEGO has done multiple cafe buildings throughout the year, it’s great to have a donut shop and a toy shop.

Overall, a wonderful LEGO CITY release that is worthy of five stars!
