The One about Minami-Ikebukuro Park

Located near many popular restaurants in Ikebukuro is a small park known as Minami-Ikebukuro Park.

No, there are no trees as one expect to see at other parks, but it’s more of an area where people tend to gather, especially families during the not-so-hot days.

In fact, going there, it’s customary to see people chilling and laying on the park lawn (and no, they are not homeless).  In fact, there is an area to get tatami mats to kick back and rest on.  But you’ll see a lot of people just sitting on the grass.

As for benches, you have stools and you have stair steps.  There are seating and tables, but those are for patrons of the restaurant Racines FARM to PARK restaurant.

While on the opposite sides is a tiny playground (well, it’s more or less a table where kids can sit) for parents to take young children and a water fountain.  On the back is a big white concrete slide wall which kids can walk around or up on it (but parents will need to keep an eye on kids if they run up and down this).

But it’s more of a park where couples tend to visit.  So, don’t get unnerved if you see lovey dovey couples laying on the grass.

But overall a convenient park for people to kick back, rest, whenever they are in the busy restaurant district of east Ikebukuro.

The park is open between 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
