It’s important to note first that because the Amazon reviews combine the touchscreen version and the dial version, the version I am reviewing is the 5.3 quart touchscreen air convection fryer from BELLA.
And having used it multiple times, I can say it’s the best thing ever!
It’s simple to use and even guys like me who often have to cook but don’t want to be around a fryer and have grease fling back to our face, chest or arms will appreciate this wonderful addition to the kitchen.
It’s an air convection fryer, so it’s not like the old school fryers that grandma or mom had with oil that’s left in there for who knows how long. This one requires no major amounts of oil, just open the basket area (one is the basket which you put the food in and it goes into a steel container which collects the liquid or oil).
First I tried popcorn chicken, put them in and use the menu buttons and selected chicken. Granted, I wasn’t sure how it would work because it was my first test and I was willing to risk a bag of popcorn chicken. And wala…when it was done, it was the best popcorn chicken that we have eaten and took less time and less mess. It was crispy on the outside and the chicken meat was perfect!
OK, next was my sweet potato test. I did several as fries, another in discs and another in a small chunks. I used the fries selection but instead of 20, I probably could have gotten by with 15 min. But they turned out crisp and again, another major plus because baking sweet potatoes sometimes takes a long time. Another plus!
Then I tried gyoza (chicken version) and selected the chicken selection. And decided to check back after 15 min. And they turned out perfect, almost like pan frying without the oil. Crispy on the corners, moist on the outside and the chicken inside and it turned out wonderfully.
When you are done, it’s easy to clean the basket and the metal container.
There are many things I also tested like onion rings but I have other ideas that I want to experiment on. But if anything, I would love to test such as fish filet, bacon and the pizza squares that my son loves. I’m willing to experiment, but will say that this has worked so perfectly.
The simplicity and the added benefit of having this in the kitchen, especially if you have children who only want to eat chicken this and chicken, fries, taters or whatever… This BELLA Touchscreen air convection fryer is so worth it!
