The One about Ebisu Part 1: Yebisu at Night

When one visits Shibuya, it’s easy for one to be fixated towards the Shibuya Scramble area or Harajuku area.  But another place that many people may not be familiar with is another district within Shibuya Ward that attracts foodies and those looking for pubs, and that is the Ebisu district.

Founded in 1928 as a community developed around the Japan Beer Brewery Company (now known as Sapporo Breweries Limited), the district was known as a beer lover’s destination, especially those who loved Yebisu Beer which has been around since 1890.

For the most part, many go to Ebisu either to go to the shopping and cultural center, Yebisu Garden Place or those wanting to eat or drink.

Located in Ebisu is a burger place known as BLACOWS which is considered the top burger place in Tokyo (which is subjective) and another Burger shop is Burger Mania.

Also, located in the area is the ramen restaurant Ippudo or AFURI Ebisu, a Korean BBQ Jojoen at Ebisu Garden Place, beef fanatics visit Yakiniku Champion, Lawry’s the Prime Rib,  or Tonchan Ebisu and sushi fans visit Sushi-ya Ono or Matsue Ebisu.

And of course, a plethora of pubs such as the Drunkard Ebisu, Yasubei of Ebisu, to name a few.

I wrote about Christmas in Ebisu, but I’ll definitely post more about this bustling district in the near future.
