The One about the Dell i7777-5507SLV-PUS Inspiron 27″ PC

I am reviewing the Dell i7777-5507SLV-PUS Inspiron 27 all-in-one PC that will no doubt attract people who want to save desk space and also for consumers who want to have enough power for applications and gaming.  But also for those who are wanting a PC that has an anti-glare narrow border Display with Wide Viewing Angle (IPS) screen.

The Dell i7777-5507SLV-PUS Inspiron 27 PC has a narrow border display and comes with an 8th Generation Intel Core I5 with an 8400T processor at 1.70GHz (9MB cache, up to 4.0 GHz), comes with 8GB 2666MHz DDR4 ram and can be upgraded up to 32GB.

For video, the PC uses an Intel UHD Graphics 530 with shared graphics memory.

The PC comes with a 1TB 5400 RPM SATA HDD drive and a 27-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) Anti-Glare, Narrow Border Display with Wide Viewing Angle (IPS) and comes with Microsoft Windows 10 Home Edition 64-bit.

For wireless, the PC uses an 802.11 ac + Bluetooth 4.1, Dual Band 2.4 & 5 GHz, 2×2.

Inside the package is  the power adapter, a wireless mouse and keyboard including batteries for both.

It’s important to note that this is not a Touch monitor, it does not come with a webcam, nor does this come with an optical DVD/Blu-ray player.  To be truthful, I’m not too bothered with it not having an internal DVD/Blu-ray player because with my experience with iMac with built in drives, the heat have killed my internal.  So, I tend to use an external optical drive if I’m needing to utilize a DVD or Blu-ray player.

The rear features an HDMI in and and a HDMI 1.4 out, RJ-45 10/100/1000 Ethernet port, a USB 3.1 port, two USB 2.0 ports, audio out and DC power.

On the left side of the screen is an SD card reader, a USB 3.1 Type-C slot and a USB 3.1 Gen 1 with power sharing and a universal audio jack.  So, it’s good to know that you are covered when it comes to ports.

I have tested many Dell, HP, Acer and Toshiba systems and I felt the aesthetics alone were are solid and it’s quite light to lift.  Attaching the PC to the base is easy and Windows 10 recognized the keyboard and mouse immediately upon turning it on.

As for Windows 10 Home 64-bit, first thing that I always tell people is that first time login for Windows 10 takes awhile and also, you will want to run Windows Update.

Going through the software, it does come with a few pre-installed games such as Disney Magic Kingdoms, Candy Crush Saga, Candy Crush Soda Saga, Hidden City: Hidden Objects Adventure, Minecraft for Windows 10, Netflix and one week trial software of Microsoft Office 365, which you can purchase if needed.  McAfee LiveSafe trial is also pre-installed.  And of course, Dell software including Dell Mobile Connect if you want to get phone calls, send SMS and interact with certain mobile apps.

For hardcore audiophiles who want to tweak their audio, MaxAudioPro is included to adjust the equalizer settings.

Connect via Ethernet cable and via Wi-fi without any problems.  Both tested fine, downloaded Windows Updates quickly.

After updating my Windows, installing software I regularly use and other Windows 10 setting changes in power options.

Upon testing the system, I saw no dead pixels and first thing I did was attach a sound bar to the device, along with a Blu-ray optical drive (note: I installed Corel UltraDVD Pro) to watch “Avengers: Infinity War” Blu-ray and test out how things looked on the screen.  And because it comes with an HDMI in, you can also connect your gaming console into this PC, or even your smart phone with a special adapter.

The next step was to test out gaming with it’s 8GB RAM, I plan to upgrade it with another 8GB stick or possibly go all 32GB.  But for now, I went ahead and installed Steam and numerous games that I have to test out overall performance.

A Microsoft XBOX One controller was easily discovered.

Running on a Intel UHD Graphics 530, you’re not going to get a high end video card.  If you were looking at this computer solely for gaming, then no I wouldn’t recommend it, because you want to go for a gaming computer with more power and definitely one with a GeForce GTX or Radeon RX video card and also an newer i7 processor.  And yes, you will be spending a lot more for a gaming computer.

The Intel UHD Graphics 530 is an integrated graphics card but not a powerful gaming card to play smooth, high resolution games but you can get by with cool games at low to medium settings and lower flame rate.

I tested out with “Middle-Earth Shadow of Mordor” to see how well it ran on 8GB of RAM on Ultra HD settings and at the highest resolution and you could see the slowdown and blurring.  Brought the resolution down to medium settings and it ran well.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a lot of cool games on the system because while you won’t get superb settings for a lot of the newer games, there are way too many games out there (especially if you are among the many who have a huge STEAM backlog), you may find yourself going back to games that were released a few years back.  Tested FPS, RPG games, fighting games and Shmups and they also worked fine.

I was also able to test out video streaming on OBS to Twitch and Facebook and it ran just fine.

As for software, while I did photo editing with Adobe Lightroom and also installed Corel Draw and even the 3D program Daz, I’m not comfortable at doing any video editing with only 8GB of RAM, but for anyone wanting to do multimedia work, upgrading the RAM should be a priority.

I’m also happy there is a USB-C slot and USB 3.1 slots in general, so I was able to attach numerous docking stations and external drives to a USB-C hub.

Overall, the Dell i7777-5507SLV-PUS Inspiron 27″ PC is a PC that will no doubt suit many needs for consumer doing work, perusing the Internet, playing video games and just day-to-day basic operations.

This computer is perfect for those are looking for an affordable computer for the family, parents purchasing a computer for their teen or those just wanting a computer that won’t break the bank.  They don’t need the latest and great i7 and are cool with the a new generation i5.

You get 1TB of space which is more than enough for most people, while I am more for 16GB minimum of RAM, 8GB of RAM is enough for most people (although if you have an option, I do recommend getting an additional 8GB (the computer takes an 8GB DDR-2400 SODIMM). Just remember each slot, it’s best to keep the same type of memory, so two 8’s (for 16GB of RAM) or two 16’s (for 32GB of RAM).  It comes with 8GB of ram already.

You can easily replace memory and if you want to put a higher capacity internal SSD Drive, you can, through a panel on back of the PC.

While you can do gaming, you will need to dial the settings down a bit.  If you want to use a DVD or Blu-ray player, you will need to purchase an external optical drive.

People who want to do high end multimedia work or high-end gaming know already they are going to have to spend quite a bit of money to get that power, so the Inspiron 27″ serves a wonderful purpose of providing a large, cool display and a lot of power to getting the job done.

As for the 1 star review that someone made on Amazon, it looks like his main contention is Windows 10 and not the actual PC but having tested this machine, let me address a few things, so people get a different perspective.

The drive does have pre-installed apps but by no means is it enough to even make a dent on your 1TB hard drive.  Because it doesn’t come with an optical drive,

As for e-mail, if you don’t want to use Outlook, then use the free Mozilla Thundbird or even online e-mail via Gmail and add the two-factor authentication for added security.

As for the photos app, I was able to download photos and videos easily via the Photos app.  I had no problems attaching it to an e-mail, nor problems posting on social media like Facebook or Twitter or uploading videos to YouTube.  All your files goes into the Pictures folder in your file manager.

Now, for those who are wondering what additional things I would purchase an optical drive that plays Blu-ray’s and DVD’s and can also burn Blu-rays or DVD’s, such as the Pioneer BDR-XD05B.  And if you plan to watch a lot of films or even play games, purchase good speakers/subwoofer, soundbar or good headphones and a Webcams (like a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920).

The wireless keyboard is thin, so if you need something a bit bigger and want a keyboard with padding for your wrists, the Logitech MK550 wireless keyboard and mouse will work great with this PC.

Now is a perfect PC?  No.  For one, ASUS offers the ASUS V272UA-DS501T Vivo AiO with nearly the same specs at the same price but it has a built-in HD Webcam and also is a touch screen BUT with that being said, the ASUS has a 8250U Processor (third quarter of 2017), the Dell Inspiron has an 8400T Processor (2nd Quarter of 2018), so you get a little bit more power and speed with the Inspiron.

And of course, I tend to recommend PC’s or laptop with a new generation i7 over an i5, but of course, there is a price difference.

Overall, the Dell i7777-5507SLV-PUS Inspiron 27″ PC is a solid all-in-0ne PC to own and no doubt for consumers who want to keep things under budget.  May it be your first PC to own or those looking for something not too bulky and are not interested in purchasing a monitor with a tower and are not interested in a laptop.   Also, wanting a PC with a 27″ inch screen a lot of disk space and a new 8th generation i5-8400T processor for 2018.

I recommend it!
