During my coffee tour in Japan, I visited a few places in the Toranomon business district of Minato.
Toranomon which means “Tiger’s Gate” is the name of the southernmost gate of Edo Castle which existed until the 1870’s before being demolished has a lot of salarymen and OL’s (office ladies) who need their caffeine jolt and while there are many coffee shops that served that purpose, Caffeineholic is an organic caffeine charge bar that serves that purpose.
Opened in late August 2016, the shop believes in providing efficient and healthy caffeinated charge drinks around espresso coffee, tea and green tea.
The store I visited was prior to its move in March 2018 was in the Toranomon area is going through redevelopment. The shop has relocated to the Parkrex Nihombashi Bakurocho 1st floor.
If there is one thing I’m trying to find out…who is the guy on their logo? The founder?
The concept is easy, choose between coffee, tea and green tea. Second step is too choose if you want espresso, long (stronger aroma and taste with a double shot of espresso), latte or soylatte (you can get these hot to cold) and the range of prices are from Y230 to Y420.
At the time, not sure about now after the move, but they offered affogato and also sparkling tea and beer with caffeine (they also served caffeineless beer as well). But the latte is definitely delicious!
And for the busy employee, one thing that people always wanted along with their beverage is a Caffeineholic hotdog. The hotdogs are what you hear a lot of people raving about of how awesome they are! Almost how like people are in America with Costco hotdogs.
You choose from Coppe, whole wheat or French bread and then choose from a variety of sausages such as American, Italian, German, Spanish, Arabian, Indonesian, Japanese, French, Brazilian and Greece. And pick your sauce such as tomato, BBQ, salsa, lemon mayonnaise, curry mayonnaise, mustard or grain mustard.
Want toppings on your hotdog? No problem, for an additional Y50, you can get dried onion, sauerkraut, pickles or fried Cornicho.
But for those who are not into hotdogs, they also sold salad and vanilla ice cream as well.
But for what it’s worth, this is a wonderful destination for those who are addicted to caffeine. And make sure you try the hot dog!
