The One about Marunouchi Cafe x WIRED CAFE in Marunouchi

Located in the posh shopping, Marunouchi building, Marunouchi Cafe x WIRED CAFE is a restaurant in Chiyoda ward that promotes the theme of “Work, Play, Learn”.

A place that hosts dinner parties, work meetings or to grab something to eat or if you want coffee, have a cup of coffee from SALVADOR COFFEE BREWERS, at lunchtime, the location provides five different types of menus each week.

Another advantage is that the location opens at 7:30 a.m. (breakfast is from 7:30-11:00 p.m.), lunch and dinner is at 11:00-11:00 p.m. (Fridays from noon to 4:00 p.m.) and brunch at 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays, Sunday and public holidays.

The building has about 130 seats and if there is one thing that rings true, it’s a location for one to take a break from shopping or for meeting with friends for a cup of java or to sample whatever dish is being served.

While outside, in the two times I have been to the location, you have to wait.  The place is typically packed for lunch and dinner,  but the wait time is not too long.

One thing I noticed is that while the restaurant looks very nice, the people eating at the restaurant use the location like a quiet place to do their work.  Almost like being at a cafe in Los Angeles, San Francisco or Seattle, there are plenty of people on their laptops working.

Customer service was fantastic and they were attentive and were very helpful.

But with that being said, this is a location that one is paying for the atmosphere.  The lunch or dinner specials are delicious but some, especially those traveling to Japan, may feel the portions are a bit small.

On this day, for lunch, I decided to order the Mexican Taco Rice.  This is quite a bit of a fad in Japan, of taking what you love about tacos and combing it with rice and salad and add several nacho chips and tada…you have Mexican Taco Rice.

I actually enjoyed the meal, but it helps to have good ambiance for me to chill out and get some work done and they don’t rush you to get up and leave, this place expects people to eat, drink, have meetings, do work, etc.

But I think some people may feel that what you get is not enough for the price, compared to niche cafes which can cost you more, I didn’t feel it was bad at all.  But if you are super hungry and are on a budget, then I suppose this cafe may not be for you.  But if you are looking for a restaurant with good ambiance and where you can order food or coffee and chill, then Marunouchi Cafe x WIRED CAFE is worth checking out.
