The One about TAMAGO-TO-WATASHI in Shibuya

I had a chance to try the omurice restaurant “TAMAGO-TO-WATASHI” in Shibuya.

Located in the sixth floor of Gourmetown, where restaurants tend to focus on different sauces (which many Japanese omurice restaurants with large menu’s tend to do), “TAMAGO-TO-WATASHI” experiments with different things to go into omurice.  So, one can see gratin-type or stew-types of omurice but you’ll also find things as tongue stew.  I’m not a beef tongue eater, so I decided to stay with their “Fuyu no Osusume” soufflet lasagna omurice dish.

I like the fluffiness of the egg and the omurice is delicious.  But I still am biased towards Pomme’s as my favorite omurice in Tokyo, because you get more choices, especially when it comes to omurice size.

For the most part, the dishes were very good, not expensive at all.  You can expect to spend about Y1000-Y1999.

The place can get packed but not too long for one to get seated. We went around 6:00 p.m. and it did not take long for us to get a seat.

There are a lot of reviews about how female patrons outnumber male patrons, but personally, it’s not something I get too bothered by.

But because it is a restaurant popular among women and Japanese have attributed to its western style of setting, but I find it so interesting to read reviews from men who are bothered by the fact that the place is too frequented by women.  Really?  One shouldn’t be inconvenienced by such things.  If you are there for the food or to satisfy your hunger, it’s all good.

Customer service was very good, the place was clean.  Bathrooms are located outside of the restaurant.

Overall, I would eat at TAMAGO-TO-WATASHI again.  I think it’s one of those place you can go and eat with friends and talk, chat and enjoy.
