For the longest time, I have depended on my DSLR shoulder bags when traveling to events around the world.

But I noticed how I would experience shoulder pain due to the uneven distribution of the weight that I decided to go with a backpack.

What I needed was one that had pockets, where the opening to get to the camera was inside and not outside for anti-theft but most importantly, had enough room to fit a 500 mm lens and more.  But also, that it would pass for carry on luggage when traveling.

And so, my go to luggage was the Lowepro Flipside 500 AW DSLR Backpack.

With its dimensions of 12.7 x 19.9 x 11.7 inches (a total of 44.3 inches, below the 45 inches limit for most airports), the Lowepro Flipside 500 AW DSLR Backpack is quite versatile.

What the bag offers is large capacity for large lenses and like other camera bags, you can adjust the dividers as they are velcro based to fit your DSLR, lenses, flashes and other items you want to hold in the backpack.

There is an addition front storage compartment for small accessories, a tablet, etc.

The compartment where your gear goes into is in the inside facing your back for added security.

The backpack features a contoured shoulder strap, padded waist belt and the backpack does have side pockets, so you can store your water bottles or whatever you want to stick in there.

There is a hideaway tripod mount system to secure your tripod as well.

So far the backpack fit well on my back, the straps were easily adjusted to fit my body frame and the belt fit perfectly as well.  Although, some people with a larger body frame may feel it to be uncomfortable.

But for me, the backpack is worth the extra investment if you are a photographer that plans to carry a lot of lenses and is constantly on the go.

This is a very durable backpack and for those who are traveling and want to carry multiple lenses will definitely want to give the Lowepro Flipside 500 AW DSLR Backpack a try!
