The One about Krispy Krunchy Chicken at Tropicana Asian Market in Lemoore, California

I’ve been told to check out Krispy Krunchy Chicken located at one of the Filipino/Asian grocery markets, Tropicana Asian Market in Lemoore, California.

I heard not only are the prices amazing, the chicken is absolutely juicy and delicious.

While I don’t eat much of fried chicken (probably once or twice a year), we decided to visit the grocery store and check out the fried chicken because I heard from some that it not only beats KFC and Popeye’s in taste, it’s way more cheaper.

I have to admit, at first, I thought Krispy Krunchy Chicken was Filipino fried chicken, similar to the popular fried chicken found at Jollibees or Max’s Restaurant.

But actually, while this is served at Tropicana Asian Market in Lemoore, Krispy Krunchy Chicken is a C-Store (convenience store) food service concept that enhances store profitability and image.

And the original Krispy Krunch was founded in Lafayette, Louisiana back in 1989.  By 2000, the restaurant expanded outside of Louisiana and over 2,300 locations have opened up in41 states since 2013 and also in American Samoa and Malaysia.

While the market also sells Filipino food, I’m going to focus on the fried chicken.

For one, one can order small meals for their lunch or dinner, or purchase family size.  We ordered an 8-piece which was $8.49.  You can also order cajun tenders, krispy shrimp, cajun fish, a chicken sandwich.

They also serve honey butter biscuits, fries, boudin bites, mashed potato and gravy, jambalaya, red beans and rice, mac-n-cheese and more.

The fried chicken was delicious, juicy and while I didn’t take any photos of the fried chicken, as we all were hungry and wanted to dive in and eat immediately.

But considering the sides are only $3.99 for large and $2.29 for small, biscuits are .69 cents, $1.89 for three and $3.49 for six.  And the Boudin Bites (which look like hush puppies but contain rice, pork with cajun seasonings) are .99 each or 2 for $1.79, I could get the sides and number of chicken and still be way under $20, whereas, I would be spending double that at a KFC or Popeye’s.

And what was even more interesting, while a Filipino grocery market, there were people, many of different ethnicities going their for their fried chicken and then also purchasing groceries.  I spoke to a few people who have went there and said the prices and the taste were enough for them to no longer visit a KFC or Popeye’s and I can see that.  You get your money’s worth at Krispy Krunchy Chicken.

It’s also important to note that a brochure is also made available for those wanting to know the calories, so that’s another plus!

So, if I was still eating fried chicken more often, would I go to a Krispy Krunchy Chicken location over KFC and Popeye’s?  The fact that you get more for your money, as everything sold is at a great price and the fact that the fried chicken is absolutely delicious and juicy.  Personally, I would rather spend under $20 for a family meal versus over $40.  So, my answer is yes!
