The One about the Uncle Mo’s Tackle (UMT) Flat Head Rockaway Wrecker Blackfish Jig 1.5 oz

Today I am reviewing the Uncle Mo’s Tackle (UMT) Flat Head Rockaway Wrecker Blackfish Jig 1.5 oz. There are metal and versatile for shallow to mid-depths.

This is a flathead jig used to catch blackfish (tautog), porgy (scup), fluke and sea bass and one you definitely want to pair with medium heavy and heavier weight line (30 lb. or higher). I use 30-50 lb. if fishing from the jetty.

Porgy (scup) can be caught in deep or shallow but they are a bit aggressive and if you can get your jig to land to the ground and do some major jig work, they really come after the jigs, especially if you get them close to a school of them. You can probably put some squid to attract porgy. As for the blackfish, put some crab on this jig and you can really catch them, especially during high tide.

You can definitely get cod with this jig as well.

But overall, it’s a jig worth having in your tackle, if you catch near a pier or offshore. Just remember to check the size rules as some implement a 16-inch minimum to one fish going past 21 inches can be kept. For porgy, some states allow for 9.5 inch minimum from shore and 11 inches on boat. Some have a daily bag limit.

But overall, you can definitely have fun catching these fish with this jig, but do know they sell them in 1, 5 and 10 packs. But for 1 for $5, definitely a much better deal to get them as a 10 pack for $27.

But overall, thumbs up for Uncle Mo’s Tackle (UMT) Flat Head Rockaway Wrecker Blackfish Jig 1.5 oz. Recommended!
