I recently discovered the Kaleodam Pre-Tied Dropper Loop Rigs (20 lb. – 70 lb.) and I can say that this is a great idea and product for those who want to use a Hi-Lo rig.
The loops are pre-tied and will save you so much time from creating your own loops.
They come in 20-80 lb., each with 100 knots except the 70 lb. version which comes with 80 knots.
I have tried dropper loop rigs of different weight but this time I’m trying the 60lb. which comes with 100 knots.
So, how does it work? Think about a fluoro line spool but these come with 100 loops spread out among 18 inches.
I would cut the line above the loop you are not using and then tie one to a barrel swivel, while the two loops would be for the hooks/bead or float and the bottom would be for a weight. You can catch up to two fish at a time and it’s easy to use.
I recommend this for surf fishing, piers, wiers and areas with strong current but not so much for heavy cover bass fishing, large catfish and inshore or light saltwater big game. I wanted something that would work in thick cover and vegetation without having to worry about snapping a line.
I tend to fish in a river that is snag-filled with vegetation and rocks, so that is why I opted for the 60 lb. version.
And I do recommend 60 lb. or higher if you are targeting big fish around higher vegetation. I tested this to catch big catfish and I noticed with my other light hi-lo rig, when it got caught in heavy vegetation areas, they would snap. So, I’m glad to see that Kaleodam offers their Pre-Tied Dropper Loop Rigs for under $15.
Great deal and highly recommended!
