The JAF Kagoshima branch will hold a fishing tournament on August 18th (Tuesday) at Imuta Pond in Satsumasendai City with the aim of eradicating invasive fish species. The goal of the tournament is to protect the ecosystem of Imuta Pond through fishing.

Imuta Pond, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary of being registered under the Ramsar Convention, is home to a population of invasive species such as the bluegill, which preys on rare plants and animals like the tortoiseshell dragonfly, impacting the pond’s ecosystem. Therefore, we will be holding a competition-style event with prizes for top finishers, aiming to engage participants in nature conservation efforts.

August 18, 2026 (Tuesday) 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Cancelled in case of severe weather.
2. Meeting place
Kedaoin Ecosystem Preservation and Information Facility Aquaim (1999-2 Imuta, Kedaoin-cho, Satsumasendai City, Kagoshima Prefecture)
3. Contents
This is a fishing competition to eradicate invasive fish such as bluegill, and prizes will be awarded to those who catch the most fish.
4. Participation fee
JAF members: 300 yen, Non-members: 500 yen (Insurance included)
5. Capacity
Capacity: 50 people (minimum 20 people required) *If there are many applicants, a lottery will be held.
