For flying fishing, wading staffs are used to find moving water (especially to check water depth), uneven edges and to keep balance in uneven areas.
I am reviewing the Troutbound 55.5’’ Collapsible Aluminum Wading Staff for Fly Fishing which is a collapsible aluminum wading staff which comes with a wrist lanyard and bag. Also, another nifty feature is that the removable EVA handle allows one to attach a camera.
But I am using this for fishing in general, for example, to check on water depth but also to use to get lure or hooks that get caught in weeds or branches. I have a lot of vegetation where I fish so, it helps to have a long wading staff.
The Troutbound wading staff is made of durable 6061 aluminum and folds down to 15.5 inches.
I look at this as an important wading staff for fishing in general, not just fly fishing. And at under $30, it’s definitely something that I will keep in my vehicle whenever I’m out fishing! Recommended!
