When it comes for finding an insert for fishing rods, especially for boats, yachts and ships, the Shujuku Vinyl Inserts for Fishing Rod Holder (8.5 inches x 1 5/8 inches), these work great if you have a boat/ship/road holder especially if you don’t have any protective layer in the interior of those holders.
But to be upfront, I didn’t get these for a boat. I got these to make and create a DIY rod holder.
The first experiment I tried is doing a bucket fish rod holder by drilling towards the bottom (20% line from the bottom) with a heavy screw that would connect to a 5 gallon bucket with a few sandbags inside for stability.
The second experiment is the same bucket fish rod holder is being held by heavy duty cable tie straps drilled in the bucket.
The third experiment that I had in mine was to make my own surf rod holder and to drill it towards a spade (I have not done this yet as I haven’t found a high enough spade to test with, I suppose I could use wood but I prefer metal).
But overall, for the purpose I was using it for, its no doubt useful but the primary purpose is for fishing rod holders to place as interior to those holders on ships/boats/yachts. But I am not a millionaire, so I have to use creativity for useful innovation for my fishing needs.
I like them and it’s quite sturdy! Recommended!
