If you are a fisherman or angler, you may have considered Eging (a specialized Japanese lure fishing technique) which is designed to catch squid through a lure called “egi”.
The Avlcoaky luminous squid jig lure made of fluorescent PVC and delivers 40% higher brightness than standard lures.
Its outfitted with 28-needle double umbrella hooks made of stainless steel needles and the lure itself has 360 degree swivel which helps eliminate line twist.
The lure itself is 2.8 inches (for the green portion) but with the needles and hook area, it’s about 4 inches.
There are a total of five and they are glow in the dark lures and for $10, it’s a pretty solid price.
for this one, I would use a size 2.5 or 3 line (In Japanese lines, 2 is for 40lb. and 3 is 55 lb.). I do like the fluorescent glow in the dark colors which would work well in murky conditions but its one where you can use fluorescent eging lures starting out the day but squid tend to get wary and it would be good to switch to a natural colored lure.
It’s also important that these are floating ABS Squid Jig, so you may want to pair this with a tungsten or lead weight. In Japan, eging lures tend to have S for slow and SS for super slow but in this case for this particular lure, you will want to use a sinker or an assist hook and of course, be prepared when you catch one, don’t wear expensive clothes and wear sunglasses because that squid starts shooting (as a defense mechanism) once it’s caught and out of the water.
But the fact that you get five glow in the dark squid lures for under $10 is a plus and no pain to the wallet/budget because they are not super expensive.
Overall, the Avlcoaky Luminous Squid Jig Lure 5pcs are inexpensive and worth owning. But also good to have a good balance of fluorescent and maybe picking up a more natural color lure afterward.
