The One about SHIMANO releasing their strongest fishing line, the Ocea 17+ PE

SHIMANO has posted a video of their strongest fishing line, the Ocea 17+ PE.

According to SHIMANO: The Ocea 17+ boasts the strongest strength in Shimano history, surpassing all previous products, providing the performance to confidently tackle even the biggest fish. Its 16-strand construction with a single core, combined with the latest IZANAS SF700 filament material, achieves an astonishing balance of strength and durability.

The 16-strand construction ensures a smooth surface and excellent line release during casting. The core material in the center prevents line twisting and deformation due to crushing, allowing the initial performance to be maintained for longer.

Normally, PE lines with a higher number of strands have thinner individual filaments compared to lines of the same size. This results in a smoother surface, but also a drawback: thinner atoms reduce abrasion resistance. The adoption of the new SF700 filament solves this problem. SF700 filaments are designed to be three times thicker than conventional filaments, achieving high abrasion resistance at the filament level.

In addition to adopting this new yarn, Shimano’s unique surface treatment has been applied to achieve even greater abrasion resistance. Furthermore, Ocea 17+ PE is designed to match the rod: Ocea Plugger Limited and reel: Stella SW, based on Shimano’s newly proposed “Infinity Connect” concept. It is designed to perform well not only when used as a line alone, but also when used in combination with the tackle.
