It’s day 44 of the holiday marathon and the next film is a Lifetime holiday telefilm titled “Well Suited for Christmas”.
Directed by Michelle Ouellet (“Afterparty”, “Paranormal Solutions Inc.”) and written by W. Stewart, the film stars Mercedes de la Zerda (“John Tucker Must Die”, “Radio Rebel”, “Hemlock Grove”, “War for the Planet of the Apes”), Franco Lo Presti (“Bad Blood”, “Jupiter’s Legacy”), Xavier Sotelo (“Star Trek: Discovery”, “Street Legal”), Stephanie Herrera (“Shelved”, “Beau is Afraid”), Gabriel Hudson (“Titans”, “Fly Away with Me”), Lara Amersey (“Monster Warriors”) and more.
“Well Suited For Christmas” revolves around bold fashion designer Rachel Rocca (portrayed by Mercedes de la Zerda) is invited by Premiere Fashion Magazine to take part in the annual NYC Christmas Gala. And the goal is to create an outfit for the first-ever Christmas Runaway Contest and Bachelor Auction.
This would be a wonderful opportunity for Rachel to further establish her brand and showcase her designs.
When she goes to the first meeting for the gala, the first person she meets is a man who is rude because one of his clients loves the bold fashion of a designer. When Rachel ask who was the designer, the man tells her it is Rachel Rocca (without revealing to him that she is Rachel Rocca) and he goes even further that he wouldn’t wear her outfits and prefers the traditional black jacket. Which upsets Rachel even more as she is a person who tries to break the traditional mold by showcasing bold, creative designs.
The following day, when she goes to meet who the bachelor she needs to design for, the man she is to be partnered with is the man that upset her the day before, Brett Stone (portrayed by Franco Lo Presti).
Rachel can’t believe she has to work with Brett, but she knows the opportunity can further her brand and so she tries her best to be civil and hopes she can get Brett to wear her design. But first, she needs to find a way to get along with him. And the first attempt is to invite him to meet her family.
Will these two eventually get along?
For the most part, I found “Well Suited for Christmas” to be an uplifting, entertaining holiday telefilm. You have two confident protagonists with different goals and perspectives that at first, Rachel and Brett are like oil and water. They don’t mix well.
But eventually, as the two have to work together to win the gala, both discover there is more to each other’s personality than they thought and they both may find themselves attracted to each other.
Overall, an entertaining, fun holiday film. If you like films that center around fashion with a holiday twist, you’ll enjoy “Well Suited for Christmas”.
