“A Blue Ridge Mountain Christmas” is your average holiday telefilm. Woman goes back to her hometown, meets handsome guy who is single and they fall in love. While that storyline has been reused over and over in holiday telefilms, you usually don’t have a widower, usually, a widow. That’s an interesting to see in a holiday telefilm.

A Hallmark Movies & Mysteries original movie. Hotel manager Willow returns to her hometown to help her sister plan a Christmas wedding at the inn her family once owned.
For my latest review comes a holiday Hallmark film titled “A Blue Ride Mountain Christmas” from 2019.
The film is based on the book “A Christmas Bride” by Hope Ramsay and is directed by David Winning (“Van Helsing”, “Stargate: Atlantis”, “Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie”) and written by Rick Garman (“Royal New Year’s Eve”, “Welcome to Christmas”, “The Perfect Bride”).
The film stars Rachel Leigh Cook (“She’s All That”, “Love, Guaranteed”, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”), Benjamin Ayres (“Saving Hope”, “Suits”, “Burden of Truth”), Christie Burke (“Maid”, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn”), Chilton Crane (“Final Destination 2”, “50/50”, “The X-Files”), Jesse Moss (“The Uninvited”, “Final Destination 3″), Jill Teed (X2: X-Men United”, “Charlie St. Cloud”, “Godzilla”), “Lina Renna (“The 100”, “The Edge of Seventeen”) and more.
“A Blue Ridge Mountain” a film that focuses on two individuals.
The main protagonist is Willow Petersen (portrayed by Rachel Leigh Cook), an assistant manager of a hotel in New York who is coming back home for her younger sister, Juni’s wedding.
Willow is trying to find a place for her sister to get married as the hall that she was to get married in is being closed due to snow and the roof may collapse, so she has no special place to get married as many places are taken.
Willow thinks Eagle Ridge Inn, the Inn that her family used to own. But her mother Linda (portrayed by Jill Teed), explains to her that the inn is now owned by David Linden (portrayed by Benjamin Ayres), the best man at the wedding for Austin (portrayed by Jesse Moss) and he is planning to sell it.
Willow wants to try to get David to consider allowing her sister to get married at the inn.
Which leads us to the other individual being focused on, which is David. A widower raising his young daughter Natalie (portrayed by Lina Renna) and focusing on becoming a partner at a law firm, thus not having enough time to dedicate to the inn.
For David, the Inn was the love of his deceased wife and it’s memories that are too hard for him to bear. And he wants to move forward with his daughter by selling the place.
Needless to say, Willow convinces him to use the barn at Eagle Ridge Inn and while Willow plans her sister’s wedding, she also has to work with David and in the process, the two grow closer to one another.
For the most part, “A Blue Ridge Mountain Christmas” is your average holiday telefilm. Woman goes back to her hometown, meets handsome guy who is single and they fall in love. While that storyline has been reused over and over in holiday telefilms, you usually don’t have a widower, usually, a widow. That’s an interesting to see in a holiday telefilm.
For the most part, it’s an enjoyable film and it’s great to see Rachel Leigh Cook in a holiday film, which has led to more holiday films such as “Cross Country Christmas” (2020) and “‘Tis the Season to be Merry” (2021).
