There was news today that Japan is raising its number of people to enter Japan from 3,500 to 5,000 by March and lowering the quarantine period to three days after arrival.
But that’s for non-tourism.
There have been many foreign students who are stuck at home, unable to go back to Japan for college and also for business travelers.
According to the Immigration Services Agency, there are up to 147,000 students who have been issued Visas who are still awaiting to enter the country. This is leading to many students choosing other countries to study.
Japan is playing it conservatively and making sure there is not another variant that will wreak havoc. Omicron has no doubt increased covid cases in Japan, so for now, don’t plan on traveling to Japan. If you book tickets, make sure you purchase insurance, just in case you need to get a refund.
