When a winter storm hits Cleveland and grounds flights, the nearby hotels quickly fill up with stranded travelers. Nina (Julianna Guill), a pilot, reluctantly agrees to let her arrogant but charming fellow pilot, Brady (Corey Sevier), stay at her nearby parents’ home. But when they discover her family is hosting a tree trimming party that night and that her ex will be there, Brady pretends to be her boyfriend to help her out. When the snowstorm continues, their ruse snowballs as Nina and Brady are stuck attending holiday events together. But as Christmas nears, these two opposites begin to realize the best gift they could ever receive, is perhaps, each other. Grounded for Christmas is produced by MarVista Entertainment. Larry Grimaldi serves as executive producer.
It’s day 25 of my holiday film marathon and today I am checking out the 2019 Lifetime Television telefilm “Grounded for Christmas”.
Written and directed by Amyn Kaderali, the film stars Julianna Guill (“The Resident”, “Crazy Stupid Love”), Corey Sevier (“Awaken”, “Immortals”), Cheryl Ladd (“Charlie’s Angels”, “Millennium”), Ted Atherton (“Max Payne”, “Hollywood Land”), Paula Brancati (“Degrassi: The Next Generation”, “Being Erica”), Jacob Blair, Tara Joshi, Troy Blundell, Aldrin Bundoc and more.
“Grounded for Christmas” revolves around two pilots.
Nina (portrayed by Julianna Guill) is a pilot who has not been home for the holidays since her breakup and doesn’t like the holiday. When her parents Susan (portrayed by Cheryl Ladd) and Bert (portrayed by Ted Atherton) ask her to come home for the holidays, she tells them maybe next year.
As she heads to airport to grab her luggage, she thinks another guy took hers. The guy is another pilot named Brady (portrayed by Corey Sevier), but he tells her that her luggage is still in the luggage area.
While the two are preparing to fly out, they learn that all flights are canceled due to the winter storm.
As the two try to leave by car and have nowhere to go, she happens to be near her home, she convinces Brady they can stay at her parents place. But once they arrive, Nina finds out that it’s the day the family is decorating the Christmas tree and her ex-boyfriend will be there. Nina starts to panic and asks Brady to lie and pretend he is her boyfriend. And she’ll owe him a favor.
So, the two decide to pretend they are a loving couple. And with the winter storm closing down the airport for days, can Nina and Brady continue this lie? And what happens when the two start to develop feelings for each other?
This is my second holiday film to watch starring Julianna Guill and can I say that she brings a charm that makes her role come alive for the holidays.
It’s a fun romantic comedy as Nina and Brady must pretend they are a couple and for Brady, this is something he’s always dreamed of. To celebrate Christmas and loves the whole atmosphere, while Nina, she doesn’t like Christmas because of her breakup. But with these two spending so much time forever, will romance develop? And will Nina start to appreciate Christmas again?
I also loved seeing Cheryl Ladd in this film, I know she has been in several holiday films but this is the first time I’ve watched her in one. And she does a great job playing Nina’s caring mother.
Overall, I enjoyed this holiday romantic comedy. It has Christmas decorations, Christmas parties, romance, drama and for the most part, I think “Grounded for Christmas” is a holiday film that many people will love! Recommended!
