If you are a surfer and heading to Santa Cruz, the Santa Cruz Surfing Museum should be on your bucket list.
Located inside the Mark Abbott Memorial Lighthouse (named in memorial of surfer Mark Abbott who died while surfing at the nearby Pleasure Point surf break) at Lighthouse Point on West Cliff Drive, the museum is just full of history from old newspaper clippings, the old Santa Cruz Surf Club t-shirt, many wooden surfboards, paying respect to Santa Cruz welcomes Duke Kahanamoku, tribute to the surfers who helped shape the surfing scene of Santa Cruz in the past and more.
Because of the size of the light house and the fact that I would rather see many of you visit this location than me spoiling it for you, I’ll only post a few photos.
While the museum is not huge and housed in a lighthouse, it’s still worth visiting for the history and nostalgia of 100 years of Santa Cruz surfing past.
Also, there are other surf spots to visit in the surrounding area which make the trip to Santa Cruz worthwhile.
