The One about the Razer BlackWidow V3 Mini HyperSpeed 65% Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

I tend to review a lot of gaming keyboards, expensive and inexpensive.  And this time around, I am reviewing the the Razer BlackWidow V3 Mini HyperSpeed 65% Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard.

For many years, Razer’s Huntsman keyboards have been regarded as one of the best gaming keyboards in the market, courtesy of the linear or optical switches and Razer’s doubleshot PBT keycaps.

And for Razer’s mechanical keyboards, the Razer Blackwidow’s have been a favorite as well. But Razer has released their Razer BlackWidow V3 Mini HyperSpeed 65% Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard.

A keyboard perfect for those who want a wireless 65% mechanical gaming keyboard but where some 65% mechanical keyboards omit the arrow keys among other keys, the Razer Blackwidow V3 does not. You can find the arrow keys, along with delete, page up and down and insert keys.

Now with the Razer HyperSpeed Wireless keyboard, the “Hyperspeed” is in reference to its wireless technology as it features an optimized data protocol which reduces the time to send data from your mouse and PC. Using ultra-frast radio frequency to speed up that process.

The keyboard requires less power from your mouse and keyboard so it means you can game for longer periods before having to charge (and features up to 200 hours of battery life) and is powered by Razer Chroma RGB.

When you install the Razer Synapse software, you can custom your RGB modes and also utilize the presets (11 total). And also switch on gaming mode to disable certain keys or allow for Hyperspeed Multi-Device Pairing.

But you can use this keyboard via Razer Hyperspeed Wireless, Bluetooth (connect and toggle between 3 devices) and USB-C (cable included).

It’s important to note that the keyboard comes in two different versions. One using Razer Green Mechanical Switches (Razer’s version of switches with the clicky noise) and the Razer Yellow Mechanical Switches with low actual point for faster input and has sound dampeners to reduce its already low sound profile.

The version I am using is the Yellow switch version and it definitely does feature extremely smooth keystrokes.

And the Razer HyperSpeed Wireless has been tested by many top esports athletes. My personal thoughts is that I do like this keyboard, in fact, I love the button response and for the most part, the reaction time via the HyperSpeed for the wireless is impressive but I find one thing that I just don’t like and while it’s not a deal breaker, it is something that annoyed me with the BlackWidow V2 Tournament Edition and it’s carried over to this keyboard and that’s the bottom of the keyboard.

Why I prefer the Razer Huntsman in terms of overall design and that’s the bottom portion of the keyboard.  The Huntsman’s design is simple and doesn’t need to add any extra plastic towards the bottom.  The BlackWidow, it’s a keyboard that likes that plastic ledge underneath the keyboard (below the spacebar and bottom keys).  I feel it gets in my way at times and I feel like my thumb is resting on it for the purpose because it’s there.

It’s not a deal breaker but for me, in terms of design and functionality, it’s one thing that I prefer about the Razer Huntsman vs. the BlackWidow V3 Mini.  Granted, you get used to having that plastic below but I personally don’t think it’s needed.

But overall, the Razer BlackWidow V3 Mini HyperSpeed 65% Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is a solid keyboard.  In fact, these yellow switches are quite nice, quite and smooth and I’m able to work and game on it, just fine.  I like the customizable options with Razer gaming keyboards in general and it’s a solid product.

Is it worth the premium price of nearly $175?  Well, I kind of look at it is that Razer is a major gaming brand and Razer is not exactly a budget gaming company.  You get what you pay for and I have owned Razer products that have lasted for a very long time.

The Razer BlackWidow V3 Mini HyperSpeed 65% Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is recommended!
